Starting in a new school can be scary, specially when you find it hard to interact with others, which is why I felt relieved everything had gone smoothly so far and I had found a group of people I got along with easily.
The teachers have also been welcoming, and I haven't had any problems I believe it is mostly due to the fact that I do like school, or rather getting good grades and feeling accomplished.
"So, Alex, can I ask you something?" Jacob asked as we were working on the math problems. I looked at him expectantly. "You got a special someone?" This seemed to grab the attention of Curtis as well.
"I guess you can say something like that," I grimaced. I felt a bit uncomfortable with such personal questions, mostly because there wasn't really anything going on between me and said special someone but I still felt like I could talk to them. "Just someone I like but the feeling isn't mutual. I actually think I am bothering him most of the time lately."
"Why do you still like him then?" Curtis asked frowning.
"I mean, he's usually nice to me, it's just been happening lately."
"Well, I don't know, I mean this is just my advice but if you feel like it isn't the same anymore try to do something. When things change they don't ever go back to how they were, if you say you feel like you're bothering him try to clear that up, at least think about it." He stopped for a second, " I mean you're really pretty and it wouldn't be right for you to like someone, to care for someone who doesn't really value your presence, someone who makes you feel bothersome." I stared at him unsure how to reply. The bell rang and as I got up and packed up, heading out I heard someone call out to me.
"Hey Curtis, what's up?" I asked as he approached me.
"I just wanted to give you this," he handed me a small object, "hope you like it." He winked and turned to leave.I looked at my hand and realized it was a chocolate bar. Weird. Feeling something crumple underneath I turned it over and saw a small piece of paper taped to it.
Smile:)
And I did. It was a nice gesture and honestly chocolate is never under appreciated.
"Hey Alex!" Camille greeted me as I sat next to her.
"Whatcha got there?" Charlie asked peeking at my hand.
"Chocolate. Want some?" I started cutting it out and handing them some of it.
"Where'd you get it?" They asked as they chewed on the candy.
"Curtis gave it to me," I replied nonchalantly. I saw Camille grimace a little out of the corner of my eye.
"I think he might be taking a liking to you," Charlie smirked at me, "the guy stares at you like a weirdo whenever you're not looking."
"I'm pretty sure you're overreacting," I laughed.
"He probably fell in love at first sight," he chuckled as I gave him a pointed stare. "Well, don't say I didn't warn ya," he winked at me and turned to face the teacher.I ponder on it for a moment. He did get a bit serious when I talked about my feelings for Curtis and I start replaying his words over my head however I quickly dismiss the idea.
There's no such thing as love at first sight.

It's been over a week since I started and I'm glad to see nothing has been out of the ordinary, I've found myself getting closer to my new found friends as the days go on.
Class has gone without any trouble and I've found myself getting along with my teachers, they're all nice although I have to say I feel somewhat intimidated by my philosophy teacher. Everyone says he's one of the most strict teachers, one wrong move and you can find yourself on his bad side. you gotta thread carefully around him (at least that's what they say), which is why I found myself biting my nails at the prospect of my first class with him. Some people would think of me as a goody two shoes but I don't see why I should do anything out of line, I'd rather be on people's good side and avoid any unnecessary negativity. Obviously that applies with teachers, too."Good morning, class," the teacher came in sporting a serious expression. He laid his bad and papers on the table before looking up and surveying the classroom. "I see we have a new student, could you please introduce yourself?"
"Uh, I'm Alexandria Roque, just started here a couple days ago," I said feeling intimidated by the stares from my classmates. They already know I'm here, why are they staring? And why do teachers do this? I'm sure my name is already on your attendance sheet.
"I didn't quite catch your name, could you repeat? Louder this time, please." For god's sake.
"Alexandria Roque," I replied after clearing my throat.
"Very well, welcome. Now, everybody, today we're going to be working on St Augustine, please turn to your reading sheets and start working on your writing papers, you all know what to do. Miss Roque, you can choose someone to share your reading with and they can explain what to do with it."I start taking of my binder when I feel someone tap my shoulder.
"We can work together if you want," Curtis said from behind me.
"Yeah, sure," I replied as I started turning my desk around.
"Basically we just have to read through the this and write some sort of essay, a philosophical one if that makes sense, just draw in conclusions and try to figure out what St Augustine meant by it. We're supposed to start in class and finish at home," he said pulling out the sheets between our desks. I nodded and started reading.I've always loved reading and I feel as though it comes naturally to me. Yeah, we all are taught how to read, but I mean like I can easily feel and understand the hidden emotions and meanings, I figured this could be a good way to start on my work.
As the minutes went by, I found it getting easier to translate the words into my own thoughts, and then onto the paper. To be quite honest this isn't usually what I read, my go-to books are romantic novels so I definitely wasn't into reading philosophy, but I did need to get my work done so I soon found myself filling out my paper. As time went by I saw our teacher stand up from his fest and start pacing around the classroom checking people's work. I prayed he wouldn't have enough time to reach my desk, but just like expected I felt him stand beside my desk before I saw him. He was reading through my work and I was trying to act calm as I kept writing. I felt him make a grunting noise and move forward to the front of the classroom as he dismissed the class.
Was it that bad?AN: this one was a shitty one, hopefully someday I'll get to edit this into something good
