"Hah..."
I let out a sigh as I finished picking all the berries that were needed for the day. Nothing like running around an island - or at least a part of it - at the crack of dawn to pick up a sweat. All the berries on this island just had to be in different locations. Why did nobody think this out at the development of this place?
Oh crud. If I had brought Terra – my Trapinch – along with me I would at least have some company. Too bad that doing such would mean that the whole process would take at least double the time to do. Oh well, what's done will remain done.
The fact that this island turned into a forest these past years does not really help the speed of things. I mean, trees do not just sprout into twisted labyrinths in a decade's time! At least they are not supposed to as far as my knowledge goes. Never being off this island or having an education – or lack thereof – wouldn't really help this knowledge dilemma.
Yeah. I know. Isolation much? It's like a frog at the bottom of a well only being able to see the sky. As such, that's all that it thinks exists of the world. Nothing new to me however so I don't need your ridiculous pity. Pity and feigned emotions and actions like it never put food on the table or a roof overhead. At the very least I haven't been all alone, Terra's been with me.
That and I have two unhatched pokémon eggs. Before my dad left for the Unova region ten years ago - some kind of adventure or some kind of problem that needed to be checked on; I don't know – he left me with three pokémon eggs. One of said eggs hatched into Terra a month or two after he left. The second egg has patterns of white, black, and red. It also has this weird pattern of about five red tendrils snaking out of the white. The last egg has mud-like colored scale patterns all over with some faint patches of blue and black.
Before he left, my dad mentioned that the white, black, and red egg was a gift from my grandfather. The other two were from daycares on his journey. He mentioned that he couldn't hatch them, but I knew the real reason behind this. He just stuck them in his PC and left them there for who knows how long. He never did have patience or anything resembling it. So when Terra hatched, I took great pride in raising him since my dad couldn't have given another thought to the creature. That I did something a league champion would not, or rather, could not.
You heard me right. My father was a league champion here in Sinnoh at one point in time. I don't remember exactly who he beat or what they looked like, I think it was a guy named Lucas or something. He was apparently one of the strongest league champions that the entire league association had seen in a very long time.
One thing that intrigued me about the eggs though is that pokemon eggs don't take that long to hatch. Sure, different eggs have different hatch rates such as Magikarp's ridiculously fast rate of breeding and hatching eggs. Compared to that of an Eevee, Magikarps might as well hatch at light speed. But for some reason, these two eggs have not hatched in ten years. I have heard something about specifically bred eggs taking longer to hatch, so maybe that's it.
This is, according to my mother, one reason as to why he left. Some official business maybe? Bah, what do I care. Even though from the way she worded it, the whole ordeal had to remain under lock and key, so I didn't pry any.As mentioned earlier, I don't care either way. He still left my mom and I here. But then of course, a week or two after he left, tragedy had to knock on our doorstep...
"Tra..." Terra scurried over to me on his four stubby legs as I arrived at my home camp. It wasn't much, but it was what I learned to call home over the past ten years. A fallen roof propped up against a sturdy tree trunk for shelter. There was a stream close enough to the camp for drinking and sanitary purposes. Those were two big aspects of life crossed off for a semi-enjoyable time.
