___-___-___Cherry blossom leaves floated through the air and scent of lavender drifted throughout the world. The village rested in tranquil peace and prosperity. Steam and smoke sifted through towns folks chimneys. The stone build structures and wooden taverns looked like a ghost town in the early morning darkness, with the sun casting its light rays turning the sky a dark ocean blue. The silence of a town with scents of firewood And cherry blossoms made me feel at ease.
My feet walked me up to a small little house, the only one that had a light on, that is because the person that lives in this house is terrified of the darkness. One could see why the dark is scary, it feeds on your fears and pain. I opened the door with it slowly creaking, and stepped inside. A scent of blackberry pie wafted up to my nose, it was my favorite.
"Zeana?" I opened my mouth and called out for my dear friend. I glanced around and saw no sight of her so I stepped all the way in and shut the door quietly.
The dim lighting from candlelight, took on a relaxing feeling. Then nearly giving me a heart attack, jumped out of the shadows was a little white haired girl with crimson blood red eyes. I screamed and toppled backward, falling on my rear end. The little girl, my best friend, the child that seemed like a daughter to me, Zeana; started giggling and clutched her chest and she struggled to breathe and her face turning red, due to my high pitched scream.
"Zeana! I told you not to sneak up on me like that!" I bellowed and stood up abruptly, patting myself off.
The little girl continued to giggle and finally spoke; "Yeah, but it was funny." I narrowed my eyebrows at her and sighed. "What did you bring me today?!" Her face took on a look of impatience and she tried to peek into the basket I was holding.
"Nuh uh uh. You'll have to wait and see till tomorrow. You need your rest, especially at your young age." I put the basket on the table and walked her towards the back of the house where her sleeping quarts laid.
Zeana was a 6 year old girl who had been given up by her parents at a very young age. I found her when she was 2, living in one of the side streets near a pond on the edge of town. She was skinny and looked scared, like she'd just seen a murder. I took her into the castle and begged my father to let her stay, but he turned her down. Zeana was different then everyone else, she was scared of the darkness for one reason; the darkness lived inside of her.
Zeana was a demon.
She had jet black wing, mini bull horns on her head and a thin tail. Everyone feared her, everyone thought she was a monster and would be the end of us all. I just couldn't see a little girl like her abandoned to fend for herself. She wouldn't survive. Zeana stayed the night at the castle and the next morning I was able to buy her a house. I've been checking on Zeana for ever since then, giving her food, making sure she was healthy, and giving her a place to stay.
She's everything to me and I would do anything for her. I know I'm young and I could never understand how it is to be a mother, but I can feel a bond between us. That's why I refer to her as my daughter, she never knew her parents and never had a connection. She was everything I could ever ask for.
I stared at the little girl as she laid asleep in her bed. She didn't have the nicest furniture or house but it was still better then most of the town. I wanted her to have some childhood, it's bad enough that she can't go outside unless going into the woods. I kissed Zeana's forehead and slowly stepped out of her sleeping chambers.
