O, tiny electron! Invisible thing
Thank you for all the convenience you bring
As you sing along wires, unseen by my eyes,
I know you are there, your presence implied.Elusive electron! thou particle-wave
According to Newton, you misbehave
but your freakness has use for humans like me
so dependent am I on electricity.Dear friend electron! May I call you Elect?
Are you even sentient? I shouldn't expect
such things of quanta. But then again
you have your own physics beyond my ken.To be an electron: how life would hum
were I not subject to the space-time continuum!
Do you even realize how long you were gone?
Four nights without you, in dark until dawn.Tireless electron! Let's never part!
I can hear your hum in the thrum of my heart.
Your brethren that reside inside of me
are not free to roam via connectivity.Perhaps my electrons, once freed from their bonds
in this puny body so battered and torn,
might power the future then leap back through time
to turn my lights on last Tuesday night.
