I woke up by sun light crashing through my window and hitting my face. I rolled over and tried to fall back asleep but I just couldn’t. Giving up I got up and went into the living room. No surprise but Jason was still passed out with snores ripping through his open mouth. I grabbed an oversized sweater and pulled it over my head, grabbed my keys and purse, put some shoes on and left to get some breakfast.

I walked around the corner to get to my car but stopped short when I saw the windshield smashed and both rearview mirrors hanging by wires. I walked closer and saw that all four windows had been smashed as well. “What the fuck.” I yelled.

I pulled out my phone and called the police which informed me that they couldn’t really do much but they would come take a look when they could. I hung up with them and uttered, “pricks.” I then dialed Alex.

“I can’t get to my phone right now but leave a message and I’ll call you as soon as possible.” A loud beep went off and I decided to leave a message.

“It’s me.” –“I uh well it seems my cars been vandalized.” –“I cant even drive it, that’s how bad,” – “you don’t think… Charlotte could have done this right?” – I took a deep breath I cant get ahead of myself right now –“You never came back.” I said in a quite whisper. I didn’t know what else to say so I hung up.

“Shit! How did you piss off?” Jason hollered as I showed him my car. The police had just left after five minutes of stupid questions and taking a few pictures.

“Charlotte is the only person I can think of unless this was random teenagers being little assholes.” I groaned.

“C’mon lets get a taxi and get some food I’m starved.” He put his arm around my shoulder and went towards the busy street hailing us a taxi.

We went to some small hole-in-the-wall café and ordered a little bit of everything. “So do you have any plans tomorrow?” Jason asked as he shoved a forkful of eggs into his mouth.

“I usually drive to dad.” I say quietly as I take a gulp of my coffee. He nodded and continued eating in silence.

“Do you want to go see him tomorrow?” I asked trying to gage his reaction and mood.

“He shrugged his shoulders, “I guess, wouldn’t be a bad thing.” – “Daisy called this morning asking if we were going to call mom tomorrow.” He announced.

My stomach clenched and I felt sick, of course Daisy was bugging us to talk to mom she believed the whole ‘forgive and forget’ bullshit. “I’m not.”

“Me either.” He agreed finishing of his third cup of coffee.

I laughed at him, “You are a caffeine junkie J.” I teased. He rolled his eyes and signaled for another cup to the waitress.

“Have you talked to Alex since he left?” Jason asked casually. My whole body seemed to shut down and started to reboot. I shook my head and tried to think of anything else than how Alex didn’t come back or call me back.

“I’m sure he’s busy or something.” I wave off.
