I need coffee. Why am I so drained?
I sat up in my bed and looked around. Same as always, I was the only one home with no one else around. I lived with my friend, Annie, but she's in a band, I rarely seen her home.
I stood up and stretched, trying to be less sleepy. I walked over to my dresser and took a moment to brush my brownish-blonde hair. I pulled an outfit from my dresser, the normal lazy joggers and a t-shirt. I had no one to dress up for, so I didn't.
I got dressed, brushed my teeth, and headed out the door. I felt...strange. Something was definitely off. I ignored my gut as always, the idiot I was. I got outside and into my car.
I drove to the cafe, listening to whatever was on the radio. I hated what the world had become. Crime, nothing but crime and hatred.
I got to the cafe and snagged a front spot. It wasn't very full but it also wasn't empty. I walked inside and pulled out my phone. It was too early to worry about my surroundings or the gut feels I still felt. I looked around to see people laughing, sipping their coffee and eating pastries. What I'd do to have that type of life.
I looked down at the floor for a moment, studying the pattern of the tile. A loud thud threw the door open, I quickly jerked my head up. A man with a gun, all by himself was robbing the cafe.
I heard many screams including "Run!" Or "Call the police!" Yet this masked criminal didn't scare me. I felt somewhat relaxed. It was the people around scaring me. "Everyone down!" Each customer that was previously laughing had fell to the floor.
"Don't do this." I mumbled, looking up and catching the robbers eyes. "You don't have to." They shook their head with a sigh. "You don't know me." A masculine voice muttered from under the black fabric mask. "I know that no amount of money is worth a life. I know that there's other ways of getting what you want." I cleared my throat and closed my eyes for a second, opening them back up to the end of a gun. "Maybe you're right." I expected either a shot or for him to put the gun away. What I got was a hard smash into my head, knocking me out.Chapter one is complete.
This is just a "test" chapter to see how this goes.
