Coming through!!!

         ___

Izzyoge Joshua sat by the dressing mirror, applying foundation to her face. At twenty-six, she could pass for an eighteen year old girl, slim with a shining dark complexion and a grey eyes which complimented her dark skin. Her hair, long, silky and dark which when she wasn't on weaves, she often made into a ponytail.

She applied the powder on the foundation, checking and loving her looks in the mirror. Smashing her lips together, she applied lipstick on them smiling to herself. She glanced back to her husband who's on bed staring at her.

"Where are you going Izzy?" He asked with slight annoyance. How can a woman go out unnecessarily on a Saturday.

"Where can't I go?" she replied with disdain.

Kennedy stood up from the bed and moved to the dressing mirror. He wondered what kind of new behavior his wife of one year had adopted. He could swore she isn't the woman he got married to.

The Izzyoge he knew, fell in love with and married was a beautiful, caring and respectful lady, but the Izzyoge in his house was only beautiful, not the caring and respectful lady he once knew.

"Izzy, what went wrong?" He asked sadly.

"That what?" she replied with a question.

"You are no longer the Izzyoge I knew and got married to, what went wrong? Izzoge, talk to me." He said placing his hand on her shoulder.

She yanked his hand off her shoulder. "What did I tell you went wrong? What exactly is your problem? Kennedy, leave me alone. What wrong have I done?"

"Izzy........"

"Do not Izzy me," she interrupted. "Honestly I'm tired of you Ken, can't you just leave me alone in this house? What is it with you? When will you learn to let me be?" She snapped.

"Izzyoge, I don't deserve to be treated this way." Ken sighed.

She clapped her hands. "How do you deserve to be treated? No, tell me."

He smiled sadly, walking out of the room. He often wondered if he had offended God and he decided to punish him by giving Izzyoge to him as a wife. He marvelled at how she successfully hid her true colour for the four years they dated before getting married.

Izzy watched him walk out of the room. She love him, that she sure of but her friend Tina had told her that if she show him she loves him, he would take her for granted and treat her like a slave. When she had protested that he never for once took her for granted when they were dating, she had explained that it was because she had a choice then, they could breakup and she would move to another guy then, but now, she has no choice. If they should divorce now, the whole word would label her a divorcee. "I'm sorry Ken, but I can't let you take me for granted." She muttered.

Kennedy drove to his parent after leaving home, he completed driving to his any friend's place but he didn't want to disturb his friends and their family.

He was lost in thought has he drove. What exactly happened? What went wrong with Izzy? What has he done to make her treat him with contempt? These and other thoughts run through his mind.

He got to his destination and park his car in the compound. He sat in his car for a minute, wondering why he would tell them he came visiting unexpectedly, he had never visited his parent without informing them before.

"Isn't that Kennedy?" His mother came running out of the house, she peeped out of the window when she heard a car drive in and saw him.

"Mom," he replied getting out of the car as she pulled him into an embrace.

"What a pleasant surprise Ken!" His father walked up to them.

"How's Izzyoge? His mother asked and he almost hissed. "That good girl, she's a nice one. I'm blessed to have a daughter-in-law like her." his mother finished.

He scoffed, good girl indeed. "She's fine, she has an outing with her friend and she has gone." He lied faking a smile. He wondered how she managed to convince his parent and everyone she's a good girl, she really is a chameleon. "Where's Kechi?"

"Your sister went to her fiance's place, have you eaten?"

"No, Izzy had to leave home early," he lied. "So when did you guys conclude Kechi's wedding should be?" He asked turning to his father.

"We decided it should be early next year, but their introduction is coming up this November, like two months now."

"Hmm, that's great," he replied.

"Kennedy," his mother called." Your food is ready."

"Okay mama, I'm coming."

***********************
"So what did he do?" Tina asked her friend, leaning closer.

"He left, he didn't even say a word," she replied smiling.

"That's it, but if you had appeared as a weakling, he would have taken you for a fool. That's how to treat men."

Izzy smiled. Thank God for a friend like Tina , who knows what he would have done to her. Men, Tina had told her and she had come to believe are to be handle with little or no respect and attention so they won't take you for granted and turn you to a slave in your house.
