"Order up!"The cafe was extremely busy today, and it was odd, for being a Wednesday morning. Not to mention it was almost eleven am. People should be at work, or at school.
"Eden!"
My head snapped towards the person who called my name, and my eyes locked with a pair of green ones. "Table five." My best friend, Lee, said. I nodded, handing a toddler a napkin before heading to table five. The mother thanked me and I nodded at her, sending her and her child a smile.
I sighed in frustration as I looked over to table five. Of course, it's two guys that I have a few classes with. Dallas and Jonas. For some reason, they love to tease me. Though, at this point, I think it's harassment.
I don't get paid enough for this.
I walked over to the table, avoiding as much eye contact as possible. "Hi, welcome to Andres Cafe, what can I get you guys today?" I say nonchalantly, they don't seem to notice how much I really don't like them, though. And it irks me how naive they are.
"Well, good morning, Eden. How are you?" Dallas asks, running a hand through his short blonde hair, trying and failing to be cute.
"I'm fine." I say shortly, silently praying that they would notice I really don't want to make conversation. "That's good." Jonas said while looking over the menu. "I'll have the salsa scramble, and a coffee, no cream." Jonas told me, I copied his order down silently, then I looked up at Dallas.
"I'll have the same, but a mocha macchiato, hot." Dallas said. I nodded. "Alrighty, I'll be right out with your orders." I nod at both the guys before turning and heading towards the kitchen, to give the cook my order.
Once I do that, I lean against the counter, watching my other best friend, Graser, as he hurried out the door with an order. Isn't it funny, that me and my best friends work at the same place, and live in the same dorm? I say it was planned, but Graser and Lee deny it, even though their father owns the university, and their grandfather is Andres, who owns the cafe. I'm not complaining though, better them than some people I don't know.
Lee and Graser have been my best friends since diapers, they've also been my only friends. In high school, though, I was kinda their shadow, with their parents being super wealthy, and their father owning the university we're attending, they were super popular. And me, being me... I was not. Their popularity never affected our friendship, which I'm super grateful for.
"Omigawd. Did you see Jonas' new haircut?" Lee asks as she sits on the counter beside me.
I roll my eyes. I don't know what she sees in him, although, Jonas is a little better than Dallas, he's still a major fuck boy. I don't even know why girls find them attractive. Sure, there's no doubt that they're good looking, but they're players, and you only end up hurt in the end.
"I mean, if I had known that's who was sitting at table five, I would've just gotten it myself." Lee says to me, her eyes looking over at table five, Jonas kept glancing over at us.
"I wish you would've." I mumble in irritation.
"Why don't you like them?" Lee asks, pushing away a stray red strand of hair that escaped her beautifully messy bun. I swear, Lee could be a model if she really wanted too. "They're just so hot." Lee emphasized the word hot.
"Gross." I say. "First of all, Lee, they're such ef boys." I tell her, "Second of all, I don't have time for boys."
"Oh come on. There's always time for boys, E." Lee smiled mischievously at me.
"Table five!" I heard the cook yell from the kitchen. I started to walk away, but I turned to look back at Lee, "No." I say, looking into her bright green eyes, "No there isn't."
