"Ooh, I do, I do, I do..." Sayaka Igarashi musically hummed to herself as she strolled down the marble halls of the overly rich high school. Her arms were folded behind her back as she happily bounced along.
She was humming to the song "Helpless". A song from a western musical about revolution. Yes, she was Japanese. Yes, American history didn't really concern her at all. Yes, she didn't really know what any of it was referring to... But she felt this way towards a certain someone... And she felt that the song reflected her feelings towards them.
There was a reason for the teenage girl to be so happy as she did something as simple as walk through the corridors... She was going to a student council meeting! Sure, they weren't always exciting. It was never exciting, in all honesty. But Sayaka didn't care. Being at the student council meetings meant that she could be with the one person who she could mean something to... Someone as important as the president of the whole school! Kirari Momobami... She actually had the chance to be her number one.
"Hey, hey~!" Sayaka continued happily, shuffling along to the rhythm she'd created in her head. She was so engrossed in the song that she didn't even notice the fact that everyone was staring at her as she danced by. Her thin lips spread into a wide smile, which was rarely seen on her otherwise serious face. As she continued throughout the song, she realized that it didn't really match her feelings... She might as well change it. "Girl, you got me helpless~!" Sayaka sang, as she waltzed through the corridor. It was evident that she was a member of the student council. She had "nothing to worry about", she was "happy".
However, as Sayaka sung the happy little melody, she noticed the silhouette down the hallway. Eyes widening, she stopped dead in her tracks. The silhouette was elegantly, yet quickly advancing towards her. She felt her arms settle at her sides and her fingers beginning to twitch out of anxiety.
At least look dignified, Sayaka...
She thought as she finally saw Kirari's angelic face... And her eyes.Black met with blue.
A line from the song suddenly crossed Sayaka's mind.
Look into your eyes and the sky's the limit...
Her eyes. Kirari's eyes. Beautiful dazzling blue. Blue and wide... Exactly like the sky. Sayaka felt herself getting lost whenever she looked into them. "I'm helpless..." Sayaka mumbled to herself under her breath in the rhythm to the song. It was a fact. She couldn't do anything. The girl who she had fallen for was the president of the entire school. They maintained eye contact. "... Down for the count and I'm drowning in them." she couldn't look away. She really was drowning. Drowning because she had gone too far... She'd wanted this girl to like her more than anyone. To the point where she now just wanted to be loved by her.Kirari was already glad that Sayaka had forgotten to ask her about the meeting. She'd left early, and left Kaede to run everything for today. Sayaka didn't show up, so she went to find her. And here she was... Singing?
"Broadway?" Kirari inquired, a finger trailing along her chin as she looked over at her secretary... Who remained silent. Eyes now wide. "I think I can even name the musical... Hamilton, right?"
Sayaka hesitantly nodded, now fidgeting with her fingers. Her usual dignified posture was gone. Now, she was a nervous wreck. "You... Heard that?"
"All of it. Not that much, though. It would've been nice to have heard you sing the whole song..." The silver haired girl let out a sigh of disappointment. But, then she came up with something. She gently grabbed the unsuspecting girl's arm and dragged her into the nearest classroom.
Once they were inside of the empty classroom, Kirari guided Sayaka to the front. She then sat on the nearest table. "Sing for me." she demanded. Although, her tone was soft.
Face red Sayaka nodded. Her hands were now closed into trembling fists at her side. Now she was attempting to avoid Kirari's eyes as she opened her mouth to sing.
"I have never been the type to try and grab the spotlight. We were at a revel with some rebels on a hot night, laughing at my sister as she's dazzling the room. Then you walked in and my heart went 'boom'-" she awkwardly looked over at the president, who was nodding in approval and drumming her fingers on the table in the rhythm to the song.Sayaka smiled and began to pace around, still singing and now adding in a few little gestures. "Tryna catch your eye from the side from the side of the ballroom. Everybody's dancing and the band's top volume-"
She did a little twirl, hands now clutched close to her chest. "Grind to the rhythm as we wine and dine~!" she hummed happily upon seeing Kirari's smile. The short girl mimed wrapping her arm around someone's shoulder, acting like she was whispering into their ear. "Grabbed my sister and whispered 'yo, this one's mine!"Kirari chuckled upon watching the ravenette become so engrossed in the song. It was quite interesting. She tilted her head as the girl did another spin to indicate that she was playing another character, even though she was singing as the same character she was before..? Looks like she was having trouble with multi-roling. That just intrigued Kirari even more, with how desperately her secretary was trying to impress her. In fact, the president knew all of the lyrics... Thanks to her sister being a huge Broadway fan and playing the whole Hamilton soundtrack whenever she got the chance.
"My sister made her way across the room to you," Sayaka sang as she strutted across to Kirari, now in the role of the character Angelica. "I get nervous thinking 'what's she gonna do?'" The teenage girl gently grabbed Kirari's arm, still singing. Yet now she had her eyes closed in order to not see the reaction. "Then she grabbed your arm and I'm thinking we're-"
The singing girl was suddenly paused by the other placing her slender finger over her lips. The silver-haired girl's blue lips curved into a smirk, yet she maintained the usual calm expression. "I've heard enough, Sayaka."
Sayaka felt her heart ache as she heard those words, she awkwardly let her hands drop from Kirari's arm...
Only for her to grab them.Looking up with confusion and tears in her eyes, Sayaka edged her mouth open to say something. But she was interrupted when Kirari spoke before her:"Don't get upset. I enjoyed you're singing... We'll have to perform a duet some time, wouldn't that be nice?" Kirari chuckled, leaning back in her position as she kept a hold on the trembling girl's soft hands.
"Y-Yes, President!" Sayaka managed as a smile spread across her face. Boy, was she lucky.
"Just... Tell me, Sayaka..." Kirari began as she tilted her head. "Why that song?"
"Because I- I'm..." Sayaka found herself stumbling over her words as she felt the President's thumb softly rub her hand.
"Helpless?" Kirari finished, to cause Sayaka to nod. "Well, I'll just quote a line from the song... With my own little twist on it, of course." she pulled Sayaka in closer to her, and brought her blue lips to the girl's pink ear as she whispered:
"My life is going to be fine because Sayaka's in it."
"I look into your eyes and the sky's the limit..."
