Chapter 5

* Alli's POV *

"Alli! Wake up! Don't you have to go over to Noah's for the project! Stop being so lazy and get up now!"

I groaned. Even from down stairs my mom had a crystal clear voice. But to be truthful I didn't want to go. I didn't want face him. Both of hims. What am I going to do? The man needed justice and I needed to be safe. I got up from my nap. I had finished all my homework today so all that was left was science. I checked my messages on my phone and there was one from Noah.

NOAH: Hey, arn't u gonna come over or somethn 2 do the project cause I need 2 go somewhere @ 7

Well I guess that means I better start going.

ALLI: b right there

I stopped my car in front on the block away from Noah's place. Thier driveway was always full and the only parking space was near the park. I walked to the house with the stone bricks.

I knocked on the door and waited for a minute.

"Yea what do you want- Oh Alli, what a surprise."

I gritted my teeth when I saw Mike at the door.

"I'm here to see Noah, we need to work on the project." I said not making eye contact with him.

"Well he's at Rogers to get his stuff cause he left it there, but he will be back soon. For the time being why dont you just come in." He said, way too sincere. I stepped in and sat awkwardly on the sofa near the door. The tv was on and the volume maximized. Mike closed the door and stepped into the living room lowering the volume on the tv. He sat on the other end of the same sofa I was on.

"I'm sorry about yestarday, I was only trying to get my threat through." He started.

I didn't say a word. I just sat looking at the tv screen even though it was tuned on to some random sports channel.

"Look, if my father found out you knew, he would have killed you. I only did this to save you. Just let it go, it's not like the man who was killed was your friend or relative."

I opened my mouth to speak and looked at him stright in the eye.

"But he was human."

Just as I said that the door opened and Noah stepped into the living room.

"Oh, hey Alli, lets just go to my room." He said so I just followed him up. I could feel Mikes eyes on me as I did.

"Okay so I got the board." He said.

"I got all the other stuff." I replied.

We sat on his carpet in the center of the room. I could feel tension in the air.

"Hey what were you gonna tell me yestarday?" He asked. I looked up at him as I tried to think of an excuse to come up with.

"Uh, it, it was nothing." I replied, knowing that wasn't enough.

"Just tell, you heard a gunshot, who was the man Allii, tell me? What happened,"

I knew this was going to be harder than I thought.

"It was nothing, uh a funny story really. I yea I was at the alley and heard the gunshot when I looked there was a guy. The guy was uh he was just a kid. It was a prank to prank me. Hehe yea, not that funny now but but it was then."I smiled weakly hoping he would buy it. I knew that was probably going to be a no.

"Okayy. Lets start on the project." he said unconvincd and probably creeped out.

We worked for a stright two hours not really talking. It was all going fine when the dorbell rang. I guess someone else got it because Noah didn't even awknoledge it. After, a knock sounded on the door of Noah's room.
