"I can't be the reason your love with Vivian ends." Her sobs got louder and my heart thudded against my ribcage.

I felt the wall around my heart loosen and sudden realization dawned on me.

How could I treat her so badly? Instead of making her feel overjoyed with the idea of finding her mate, I made her think that I hated her.

The next words that came out of her mouth made not only me howl in sadness, but my wolf as well.

"I can't be your mate!"

Ever since Sierra's confession, she has done her best to avoid me at all costs.

It's been three weeks and it didn't seem like she would stop any time soon.

Any time I made an appearance to where she was at, she would find an excuse to leave.

For the first week, I decided to give her some space. It didn't exactly seem as if she left her old pack in better circumstances and so I forced myself to let her adjust to the Lunar Crescent pack in peace.

The second week came by and my wolf became restless, wanting for us to talk to our mate.

Just as the second week came, it was gone in a heartbeat, with the third week creeping by as my mate continued on with the silent treatment.

This morning, I remember scrambling to the kitchen to get a water bottle as I made my way out to help my third in common situate our trackers. But as I slammed through the doors, I heard Sierra's giggles die down and the petrified face of Nick looking up at me.

My wolf wanted to snap my beta's neck but I had to restrain him, not wanting to cause harm to one of my best friends. But it's not like I wasn't tempted to.

But one look at my face and Nick scurried away, not saying a goodbye to Sierra.

She looked uncomfortable but didn't bother to look in my direction.

I reached for a water bottle from the fridge and cleared my throat, gulping the cool liquid. I saw her eyes flicker in my direction but she bowed her hand as she placed the dishes in the sink, turning the faucet on to wash it.

I walked over to her and turned off the faucet.

I could hear her heartbeat rapidly increase but she didn't glance at me.

She reached for the faucet again but I covered her hands and pulled it away. I felt the jolt of electricity which caused my wolf to hum in excitement but her hand jolted away from mine and roughly gripped onto a dishcloth.

"Don't worry about the dishes, I'll do them." She glanced up at me but shook her head.

"It's okay, I can do them." Those were the first few words she had spoken in almost three weeks and it couldn't make me happier.
