Katie Stoll POV"But Chiron, Mr. D it's a Thanksgiving tradition to have people cook and prepare Thanksgiving dinner as opposed to having it just you know magically poofed up and have all your loved ones there with you to eat it" I argued.
"Katie, we have never had a Thanksgiving dinner here at camp, nor have we ever, as you say, didn't serve food that wasn't magically poofed up which saves us a lot of money and time may I add and do I even have to mention that the Greeks don't celebrate Thanksgiving," Chiron said,"and why do you, all the sudden, have an interest in changing it now?"
"Well," I said all the sudden feeling like I wanted to escape,"it's just," I continued trying to come up with a reason along with trying my best to avoid eye contact with them. I found myself instead resorting to staring into the eyes of Seymour, Mr. D's living leopard head that was mounted on the wall behind the two heads of camp. Unsurprisingly this didn't do much to help sooth my rising panic,"th-the the um the."
"Spit it out already, Cathy," Mr. D said annoyed,"I have better things to do than hear a grown woman babble incoherently like a child."
Hearing Mr. D say that popped an idea into my head, thank the gods, actually thank the god more specifically Dionysus. "The children!" I exclaimed like I was some pageant contestant during the question portion of the competition.
"What about them?" Chiron asked calmly.
"Now that Camp Half-Blood and New Athens have a lot more people and mainly children you had said you hoped to give and provide them a normal childhood or well as normal of a childhood you could have when being related to Gods, mythical creatures, and what not, right," I waited for confirmation which Chiron had given with a nod,"what's more authentic and normal than an actual and traditional Thanksgiving dinner, I just want to give my kids the Thanksgiving dinner I had and the one many of the kids and adults here were deprived of."
"I still don't know, Katie, I know we'll be able to get the supplies to make the dinner, but whose gonna make it," Chiron said looking directly into my eyes and I didn't plan to look away and give up,"I know you're motivated, but I highly doubt you'll be able to cook enough food for everyone."
"You see I don't have to be the only one cooking, I know plenty people both in New Athens and in Camp Half-Blood who'll be more than happy to help and cook," I said getting more and more excited that my plan seemed to be coming together,"people who want to help can sign up to bring certain dishes and what not."
Chiron seemed to think it over for a second. Finally he said,"Well we have an area to have it and you seem to be sure that you know how we can get all the food made, so fine I give in, you can have your Thanksgiving dinner."
"Yes!" I cheered.
I actually almost started jumping up and down after hearing that and I was about to until Chiron said,"But this will be considered a trial, if this turns out well and doesn't end in some kind of big food fight or something, this can be an annual thing here, but if it doesn't turn out so wel-"
"You have to take my place in running the town meetings in New Athens for the rest of this and next year," Mr. D interrupted,"and to announce this new event," he said referring to the dinner,"we will have next week, go ahead and run the meeting that will is supposed to take place tomorrow."
"Okay," Chiron said slowly obviously having no intention on giving me that penalty,"Well than Katie I hope you succeed and if you run into any problems along the way please feel free to come by if you have any problems."
