The flower shop was very peaceful that day. Not a lot of customers visited, and that gave Ashley tons of time to read her new book. It was a romance. No, not one of the cliche romances, this one was different. The main characters completely hated each other. This boy like his classmate, and was convinced that he hated her at the same time. She kept reading, learning that the boy was going to buy his classmate flowers.
"He stomped up towards the flower shop, breathing quickly. He pulled out the money from his pocket, threw the door open, and-" with that sentence, the door of Ashley's shop was slammed open, and a boy marched up to her.
He threw the money on the counter and said, "How do I passive-aggressively say f*ck you in flower?!" He was breathing heavily, and stared her straight in the eyes."U-um..." This situation seemed too familiar. Ashley picked up her book, and quickly read it before saying, "I have the perfect bouquet for you." She stood up, and started talking while picking up flowers. "Geraniums mean stupidity, and foxglove mean insincerity." She glanced at the book again before continuing. "Meadowsweet is uselessness, yellow carnations mean 'you have disappointed me', and orange lilies represent loathing." She walked over to the boy. "This bouquet will surely say 'fuck you'!"
The boy gaped at her for a second. "Thank you! These are perfect! How much?"
"Free." She Put the flowers in his hands, and pushed him towards the doors. "Now, go get your Mikayla, Spencer."
He looked back at her in awe. "How did you-" but he couldn't finish, because Ashley had already pushed him out the door. She smiled, and turned towards her book, picking it up, then sat down to continue reading it.
"Maybe today will be more interesting that I thought it'd be."
