I woke up to my favorite dog barking as though someone took his liver. "Jet my beloved animal companion I thought you loved me?" He tilts his head and I am immediately reminded of my other furry companion. " I think you and teddy would get along. If he doesn't eat you first that is." He gives me a yip and jumps on my bed, bowl in mouth.
"Alright alright buddy I get the memo." Once his bowl was full and so was my coffee cup I check my laptop for any emails from Edna

Dear traitor,
Where have you been?! I've been trying to call you for four hours straight! Once you get this you better call me or else I am going to personally beat you
Your ONLY editor, Edna

Oops. Welp, better call before she snaps. The phone rings once before she picks up. "Now listen here you backstabbing traitor, I had to work my ass off to keep you out of trouble because you weren't picking up your damn phone. Do you know how hard it is to keep a forty-two year old man off my ass because one of my clients isn't reporting back and keeping me in the loop!" Oh my. she was pissed. And when Edna's pissed, she's pissed. Time to tame the beast." Listen I didn't mean to, I lost track of time."
"Lost track of time? Really. Stacy I know how much you love nature, I get it but you need to keep me posted."
"I know, I know. I just got a little distracted is all."
"Doing what exactly. Taking picture isn't that exciting is it?"
No it's not, but I'm not gonna tell her that.
"Well you see I ran into a furry problem along the way and-"
My sentence was cut off by the sound of my doorbell ringing.
"Hold on someone just rang my doorbell."
I look through the peephole and see...pink?
I open the door and a mountain of red and pink roses with a lily in the middle is shoved in my face.
"Do you happen to be Ms. Roe?" A pimply teen ask from behind the flowers.
"Yes."
"Oh thank god, these are for you." He pushes the vase in my hands. "May I ask who they are from?" He smiles and shakes his head. "Sorry ma'am, no name was given but the card might have answers." He points to the card attached to the beautiful arrangement. I nod and put the vase down. "Well, whoever they are must like you a lot miss." And with that he leaves. Weird kid.
I pick up my phone and see she hasn't hung up yet.
"Who was it?" I examined the card. "Someone sent me flowers."
"Who?"
"I'm not sure myself but they sent a card." I stare at it before reading it out loud. "Your beauty is unlike any other, a lily in a field of rose bushes. From your secret admirer."
I stare at the flowers. My mind racing. "Oh wow." Was Edna's response. Questions fill my mind: who are they? How did we meet? How did they know my favorite flower is a lily? How do they know where I live!? See most people would be flattered, shy even. But me? I'm debating whether I should call the cops or not.
"Stacy, I already know you're trying to figure this out but you need to relax." Well ain't that something? "This coming from the woman who threatened me because I didn't call her every 5 minutes?" "Got me there. But still, just accept them and be happy knowing that someone out there likes you. I mean when was the last time you had a date?"
