The Card

Codal

Codal has been hailed as one of the world's most advanced cities. It started as a small camp for oil rig workers working in the Canadian province once called Alberta. It was a small patch of land on an area between Edmonton and Calgary that no one claimed. Here, the workers would set up their trailers and stay for months at a time. Slowly, the workers started building permanent, small houses that they could all share and were considerably warmer than their trailers during the winter months. Some years later, a valuable oil patch was discovered by one of the residents just outside the area. This resulted for more and more of these workers to decide to settle into this area and work at this oil patch. The oil patch that they discovered helped the residents of the area work for good wages and elevate their financial status. Soon, more people started pouring into the area and more businesses had opened up. The residents had created their own council that governed everything concerning the city including the oil patch. Seeing that what used to be their small camp now have thousand of people living in it and still growing, the council planned ahead for their future. They mapped out a whole city that was way ahead of it's time. They had made sketches of avenues and streets that did not exist yet but was definitely a possibility. They allowed the existing establishments and houses to remain where they are right now but anyone who planned to build a house or a building has to follow the zoning plans that the council has come up with. This plan, ahead of its time, has helped Codal grow to be a more space-conscious and organized city. 

As the years passed by, the abundance of oil in the city has attracted more workers and now residents of the city. By the year 2300, it was given city status by the province. By 2400, the city had started inviting researchers and scientists into their city and became one of the world's best hub for researchers and advancements. Because of this, Codal has enjoyed the latest advancements in Science and Technology. They were the first to entirely convert a whole city into using solar energy and the first to transition from cars on the roads to flying cars, UltiCars, on SkyRoads. Their healthcare service is unparallel as their health researchers had found a way to balance the work of different healthcare professionals and to that of robots. Different robots were manufactured in order to assist doctors in different surgeries that would otherwise be difficult or impossible. Better and smarter ways to diagnose health problems were discovered and the term 'prevention is better than cure' is now more prevalent. Their researchers had discovered a way to pinpoint early signs of cancer in the cellular level and a way to halt the growth of it or remove it entirely from the body. 

The scientists and researchers of Codal have been key players into the success and growth of the city. Their researchers and products have helped Codal propel into the elite status that it has today. The council of year 2670 had to figure out a way to preserve these researches. Although living in a technological advanced world and every research was stored in a secure cloud, many of the council members thought that it would be good if all researches could be stored in a drive. These drives will be stored at the Deck, the building in the center of Codal that houses the offices of all the council members. Each industry will have to input all of their researches into their own drives and made sure to be updated frequently by an authorized person. Only the mayor has the key to open the room that the drives are all stored. Overtime, people started calling these drives as the Cards and have been one of Codal's most valuable possession. All of their city's advancements are stored in these cards and the security for them had been heightened. One of the Cards in particular is located deep in the Cards' Room with it's own extra security protocols. This was the Nuclear Warhead Project Card, the project that was started around year 2550 as a response to Russia's expansion of their Project 4, their nuclear bomb development program. It also contained the codes needed to launch Codal's own nuclear bomb and may start another war if done so.
