it all started when kaleb anderson stole a very strange book from a very strange man . oliver knight had come to the && sleepy town of hollowbrooke silently & in the dead of night on a horse drawn - carriage , and he was the oddest man - that any of them had ever seen . he &&- claimed that he was just passing along and wouldn't stay long , but he set up & shop before anyone knew it . kids would wander in and out of the store day in && day out , curious about the oddities that he kept inside . oliver grew sick of them touching his priceless " artifacts " with dirty little hands and would chase them out with whatever he held . kaleb was - no exception to this . except , on his way out , he stole an odd black book with && golden writing . a book that held detailed descriptions of quite horrific beasts . and when those beasts seemed to show up all around town , no one believed the boy — not one bit . and certainly not mr . knight for his entire shop had simply vanished — like it was never there . kaleb became && known as a liar around town , until a group of kids slowly started to believe . they were all outcasts , but they formed an unbreakable bond . and this is where our story begins — with the peculiar children of hollowbrooke .
