{3rd person POV}Her small feet made indentions in the snow along the sidewalk of the large city. The streetlights gleamed and the snowflakes falling from the sky reminded her of her home back in Oregon. New York was obviously a huge jump from Portland Oregon her hometown and she knew that, but it didn't stop her from moving on. Her eighteenth birthday had just passed and it felt like the best option was to move out since her parents didn't have the money to send her to college. She didn't blame them for her crappy past she knew they tried their best to make ends meet but every time it never seemed to be enough. Her hands glued to her pockets, sure she'd lived in a cold lace her whole life but when she was with her parents they made sure three layers were her minimum no she wished she would've listened to her parents when they taught her about what to wear in the cold.
Her apartment was only another block or so but to her, it felt like an eternity to get there. She was excited to be on her own but her nerves were also starting to build up. What if someone broke in or the neighbors hated her. Or worse she couldn't get a job an go kicked out because her rent was due. As the apartment due came near excitement and warmness filled her body. The place her parents found was small but cozy, one bath, a kitchen, dining room, living room and a loft as the only bedroom. She found the elevator and beelined for the opening doors her being her the completely clumsy person she is forgets that other people live in this building too and ran into another person living here or that's just what she assumed.
Thankfully this guy looked to b around her age so she silently prayed he wouldn't be too mad at the fragile girl. " I am so sorry, I tend to forget to watch out for my surroundings." She said sheepishly. " It's fine I do the same thing," the stranger said with a chuckle. " hey um this is a weird question but are you new here because I've never seen you around here?" "Oh yeah I'm actually heading to my room now I'm Nova!" in the back of her mind she hoped this guy would possibly be her first friend because the Lord himself knows that what she could use right now. " Well Ms.Nova I'm Corey and while I'd love to stay and chat I've got to run some errands for a friend of mine but it was nice to meet you." And with that Corey was gone. She got on the elevator and made her way to her room. She unlocked the door and a wave of relief washed over her.
She quickly set her things down on the couch and went to the fridge. Before she could even move completely her parents came to the apartment first and set everything up the way they knew she'd like it which meant food was already in the fridge. She found a Hot pocket and threw it in the microwave. While her mini dish was cooking she grabbed her suitcase and put on a pair of pajamas. She threw on her giraffe onesie not caring how childish she looked it was cold outside and she wasn't going to freeze because of any tiny night shorts. When she heard that magnificent "BEEP' she rushed down the stairs and cut on the tv and ate her hot pocket. Once she finished it she called her parents to let them know she was alright and told them she thank yous for making her apartment so breathtaking. After the phone call ended she decided it was time to get ready for bed since tomorrow was all about finding a job and that would be tiring. She brushed her teeth, washed her face, and cut off all her lights before setting her alarm for 9:30 in the morning so she could get a bright and early start.
