"Fear... Lights the spark, to understanding...
But, extinguishes the flame of thought"~Ian Excell Halgreen
____________________________________The house. It's so vivid. The walls outside were an old wood that's painted a faded white. The windows broken and some boarded up with thick planks. Glass shards from some broken windows laid on the rotted grass. The door was engraved with pictures of a child's dream of a landscape, so beautiful. The roof was tiled black and some spots had holes, as big as dinner plates, in them.
The house was dark inside, just by looking at the small openings between the boarded up windows. Until I saw a candle-like light go past one window... inside the house. I had to know who it was, because by the look of things, I'm all alone outside and it's freezing out here. So my only option, is to go inside for shelter.
I go to the front door. The floor of the porch creaked under my feet, but I didn't worry about it now. I raised my hand and knocked one time, but before I could knock another time, the door swayed open slowly with a creek and stopped softly when it opened completely.
My heart is beating out of my chest as I chose to step inside the warmth of the house. I look around and let my eyes adjust to the dimly lit living room of the old house. I saw a candle with some matches next to it, and decided on lighting it up for some heat... and more importantly... light.
I held the lit candle in my hand and moved towards something that resembled a fireplace. Just to make some heat and to light up the room a bit more, I took it that no one was really inside the house except me, and made a decision on making a comfortable fire. Although I had never done one before, I actually did a good job, if I say so myself. Standing a bit back to examine my work of pyromaniac art, a hand touched my neck. I darted to the one side of the fireplace and turned around to see who or what it was. Then noticed that it was my mother.
"Mom? What are you doing here? Where are we?" She looked at me with an expressionless face, then started to speak.
"You killed him," she murmured, " You killed him" she repeated a bit louder, "He was just a little boy, and you killed him. You cut him in so many pieces. He had a future still to be made," she raised her index finger and pointed it straight towards me.
"You murderer! YOU MURDERER!" She shouted on the top of her lungs and then lunged towards me with her hands gripping my neck. She began squeezing tightly, still shouting out.
"MURDERER!"
Her mouth opened wide and I heard bones cracking when she opened it wider. Sharp teeth, like needles, started forming inside her mouth and then all of the sudden... she bent her head downward to my neck and began slicing my throat with the needle-like teeth......
"No!!" I sat up and saw that I was still inside the house, but the house was properly lit with candles everywhere on the shelves and tables.
The room had a better look to it now. The walls were painted a very nice dark brown shade and the ceiling is a lighter brown with a chandelier hanging from it that looked like it came from the 1900's. The floor was wood planked and a dark green carpet was in the center of the room. There were three couches facing the carpet's direction and I was sitting on the left one. The fireplace was lit with a bigger fire than what I had lit in the dream, so that meant someone else should have done it.
I looked around to see if anyone was here, other than the small scared-up me.
"Jessica. Calm your..." I told myself, but before I could finish what I wanted to say further, a voice broke me off.
"Again. Your name isn't Jessica. It's Megan," I looked at where the voice was coming from and saw that Eric came in with two mugs.
"Sorry... uhm... I... I didn't know I was still out of my dreamworld, like you state it." I say, rubbing the back of my neck. Taking the mug he was handing to me, I smelled the aroma of the coffee he made, and all of the sudden... for once... I relaxed.
