Chaya's Character Descriptions

Daria "Deja" Muniz

Daria Muniz, known by her high school peers as "Deja," is presently 38 years old, going on 39. Despite hardships in the past (i.e. living with abusive parents for 18 years, killing them single-handedly, and facing several years in prison), she has managed to create a family that consists of herself, her daughter, Ashley, and her pit bull Lucy. Ashley's father is not known, as Daria used to have frequent one night stands with people she met in bars when she was in her twenties. One of those events led to a "broken" condom (although she believes he never wore one in the first place), and Ashley was born in November of 2004. 

Daria was born on Christmas Eve, 1979. Her parents, like most people in the town she grew up in, were addicted to methamphetamine and did not do a very good job at raising her. Daria had two younger siblings: Luca, born in January of 1987, and Daisy, born in March of 1990. The Muniz' did not do a very good job of treating their three children right. Daria ended up being more rebellious than her siblings because she was able to recognize that she was being abused. She tried reporting her case to the school several times throughout middle school and high school, but she had no luck. 

Daria was set to graduate from her high school in June of 1998. This, however, did not happen the proper way. She was arrested on charges of premeditated murder and put into prison for 4 years before being found that her parents were drug addicts and abusers, and that she was acting in self defense. Her good friend, Olivia Harrison, fought for every last one of those four long years to free her. 

On Valentine's Day 2004, Daria arranged a hookup with a man named Stephen Walker. One thing led to another, and Daria missed her period. Sure enough, she was pregnant, and on November 24, 2004, she gave birth to her first and only daughter, Ashley Muniz. Having a daughter made Daria a more responsible person. She quit her current job, which was waitressing at a local diner, and found something that could lead into a career. 

Daria would drop Ashley off at Olivia's house every day, because Olivia worked from home and was happy to babysit her best friend's daughter. 

Despite the hardships in Daria's life, she was able to turn herself around into a fine woman. She's now thirty-eight years old, nearing thirty-nine. She is now an FSR, owns a home, and has vowed to never commit a crime as serious as the one she did at the age of eighteen ever again.
