CHAPTER 1
My sleep was interrupted by the obnoxious sound of the alarm on my iPhone.
I grumbled and searched for the source of the muffled sound. I reached under my pillow and felt the smooth glass and grabbed it. I swiped my finger across the screen to turn off the alarm and lied back down. I was just about to drift back into a deep slumber when I heard my Mum call me from downstairs.
“Come on Grace you’ll be late for your audition!” She yelled sleepily.
I shot up and threw back my blanket. What time is it? I thought to myself as I stood up off my bed. I realized I stood up too quick as I got dizzy and fell to my knees. I slowly got back up and walked across my room to my bathroom.
“Today’s the day.” I say quietly to myself and look into the mirror.
Today is the day I meet the ABC family and audition for the role of Marisol, a new character on The Walking Dead. I had watched the series a few weeks before they posted an audition for the new character that will make her appearance on the first episode of season five. The show is absolutely amazing and I love the realism and characters.
I undressed myself and got into the shower, repeating my audition script once, twice, even three times, before I was finished washing up.
I wrapped up my long dark red hair and went to my closet to pick out an outfit.
I thought about it for a second. Marisol is a strong and confident person but is very shy when it comes to feelings. She also has been a little depressed since the breakout
I pick out a pair of dark blue skinny jeans and a grey tee with a red flannel and left it unbuttoned. I left my hair natural (wavy) and only put on a little mascara and lipstick. I didn’t want to look like a Barbie. I walked back into my room and put on my favorite pair of brown combat boots.
I smiled at my reflection and ran downstairs, almost tripping on the third step. I couldn’t contain my excitement.
I loved acting. I took plenty of acting classes when I was a little younger. And recently took a drama class. However, I’ve never been in an actual TV. show. I was in plenty of Pepsi and coke commercials before. And I was in a lot of school plays. I felt comfortable acting in front of people. But the ABC family is really strict and I can’t afford to screw it up. There was only one other audition and it was for a guy. Plus I really want to do this. It could be an amazing experience and a lot of fun.
I quickly ate a granola bar and a glass of milk. My Mum sat with me and ate a bowl of cereal.
“You excited?” She said smiling.
Then it hit me…
I looked down and stopped chewing.
“Hey, what’s wrong?” My Mum said quietly and rubbed my back.
