"Stay here and wait for your social worker." A blonde nurse politely says. She closes me into a white padded room.
I wore white scrubs with nothing underneath. I tug at the shirt angrily. This can't be true. I'm in a fucking asylum. Emotions overwhelm my systems. Bile builds up in my throat. Hyperventilating seemed like the only way to breathe. Without it, I'd be dead.
So I stopped breathing.
My face heats up and my fingertips turn purple. Tears burn the rim of my eyes. I strangled myself with my cold, frail hands, wrapping them around my neck and squeezing.
Peripherals turn black.
"Die Alex. Die!" I scream helplessly.
"Stop!" A yell from the side of me startles me and I gasp for air.
"Why'd you stop me!" I yell in anger, looking at the inmate figure with glares. I couldn't see past the tears though.
"You were going to kill yourself!"
"You don't think I want that?!" My scream cracks by the lump in my throat. The tears burn my eyes. "I don't want to be here." I sob, breaking down into the restraints on my wrists.
"I don't either, but you need to get a hold of yourself!" I stare at him with anger. His brown eyes plead and his lip trembles.
"Why do you care?" I ask in mid sob.
"Because I won't let a beautiful girl die in front of my eyes." He smiles weakly.
"What?" I knew what he said, just shocked by why he said it.
"You heard me. I'm not going to see that." He peaks his head more through the small window to my left. "Alex, is it?"
"Uh-um," I wipe my tears and nose, cheeks burning a crimson red from his previous comment. He thinks I am beautiful. "Yes. I'm Alex."
"I'm Taehyung." He smiles, poking a restrained hand through the barred window. I got up and slowly moved to the hand. I grabbed it and he shook mine lightly. His smile grew more, becoming more square-like. I smile back, trying to hide my blushing.
"You're blushing..." He giggles. I chuckle lowly and hide my face away. "It's cute! Don't turn away!" He reaches his arm out more, placing it on my chin and lifting it lightly. He looks deeply into my eyes and doesn't remove his hand. He smiles, lovingly.
"It is lovely to meet you."
I fall deeply into his smile.
"Wow..." I whisper, not knowing I said it.
"What?"
"It's nice meeting you too." I blush more. This man had some type of trance on me. His eyes were the size of gorgeous almonds and disappears if he smiles enough. His hair fell perfectly over his head, dirty blonde. His smile boxy and sweet.
Wait.
We're in an asylum, there has to be something wrong with him. My smile fades and his face grows concerned.
"What's wrong?" He asks, sweetly.
"What's the reason why you're here?"
"Oh, uh-" He laughs nervously. He removes his hand from my chin. " I have a split personality." I mentally gasp and move away from him slightly, eyes widening to unexpected response.
"Oh..." I say nervously.
"Wait. I promise you I'm not him now. I'm not Jaehyung."
"Jaehyung?" I question.
"That's him, that's my other form." He looks down saddened. Guilt washes over me.
"I'm sorry for asking." I mimic him and look down also.
"It's better you know." He smile brightly again. "If you don't mind me asking, why were you sent here?" I hesitate before answering, clearing my throat.
"Extreme Anxiety." I say in an instant.
"How interesting." His smile remains glued to his face. I felt embarrassment surge throughout my system. He beckons me to return to his hand. I follow his instruction. He places his palm on my tear-stained cheek.
"You're still gorgeous to me."
And that boxy smile returned, causing me to melt into the palm of his hand once more.
