Gray's P.O.V.
The entire Team Natsu was sitting in Lucy and (y/n)'s apartment, eating whatever random snacks Lucy happened to have in her fridge. No one dared take (y/n)'s snacks. I did it once and I couldn't walk for a week.
"Does everyone have their partners for the S class trials?" Erza asked, grabbing a handful of popcorn and shoving it in her mouth, ignoring the movie we were currently watching.
"I'm with Loke," I answered reaching for the chocolate bar on the table. My hand was quickly slapped away by (y/n) who had apparently claimed the chocolate bar for herself.
"I'hm wif mah liwwl budy Hahphy!" Natsu smiled, his mouth completely filled with some sort of food.
"Wait, lemme translate!" (y/n) exclaimed, a bright happiness shining in her (e/c) eyes, "I'm with my little buddy Happy?"
Natsu nodded quickly over and over again while Happy mumbled something that resembled 'Aye Sir', with his mouth full as well.
"Cana asked me to be her partner," Lucy answered, fidgeting with a strand of her golden hair.
"DAMMIT, I WAS GONNA ASK YOU!" (y/n) yelled, standing up on the couch. She sat back down slowly, "I just realized how few friends I have beside you guys." Shit, she was really hot. I still can't believe I almost called her 'my bitch' yesterday when we were insulting each other.
"What about you, Wendy?" (y/n) asked, turning her attention to the blue-haired girl who hadn't spoken since the movie started.
"I'd love to be your partner!" Wendy exclaimed, but at the sight of (y/n)s bright expression she added, "But Mest already asked me."
"Wait a damn second," (y/n) began, earning a glare from Carla at the swear, "Do you even know who that Mest guy is?"
"No, I just met him yesterday, but what's the harm in participating?" Wendy answered confidently, although a nervous expression was hidden in her eyes, "If he's a member of Fairy Tail, he can't be a bad guy, right?"
"Well, I dunno. Fairy Tail doesn't really do any background checks. Do you guys even know what I did before I joined Fairy Tail?" (y/n) asked, chugging her entire glass of water and slamming the empty glass on the table, her hand trembling just a bit.
"Well, you uhh, I mean... you just..." Natsu trailed off, "HOW DO I NOT KNOW WHAT MY OWN SISTER DID DURING HER LIFE?!?!"
I expected (y/n) to laugh and explain what she did during those years but something dark clouded her eyes as if she regretted mentioning it at all.
I wonder what she did during those years...
Your P.O.V.
The whole group looked at me with fascinated looks on their faces and I wanted to fig a hole, crawl into it, and die. OOH! OR EVEN BETTER! Just shrink into nothing and become the air around us.
But then Wendy might accidentally eat you
Shit, I didn't think of that...
See, this is why you're so stupid. You wouldn't survive without me.
WELL YEAH, I WOULDN'T BE ABLE TO SURVIVE WITHOUT MY OWN BRAIN
Who says I'm your brain?
ME! I SAY YOU'RE MY BRAIN
"Umm, (y/n)?" I was snapped back to reality by Gray waving a hand in my face, "Are you gonna tell us what you did those years?"
"Sorry, I don't wanna talk about it," I mumbled. Those memories came flooding back and I tried to push them to the back of my mind. I'd tried to forget all of that but it was always there. A reminder that no one would ever like me. That they were all using me.
"Please stop this. I don't want it!"
"You're a monster, you deserve it! YOU SHOULD ENJOY THIS!"
"Please don't do this to me!"
"Why do I have to do this? Why me?"
"Don't talk back to me!"
"I'm sorry."
I hadn't even noticed that I'd started crying until someone put their arms around me and hugged me.
"It's okay, (y/n). You don't have to tell us anything, but we're here if you need us," A soft voice whispered from around me. I closed my eyes and tried to pretend that I was back with Natsu and Igneel. That I was just a young girl with no troubles in the world. A girl with fire dragon slayer powers and nothing else. No Amber Armour, nothing.
"Hey, (y/n)! Look what I did!" Natsu yelled, a bright smile covering his face. I ran towards him.
"FIRE DRAGON IRON FIST!" Natsu yelled, a small flame coming out of his fist. I gaped at his hand, the small flame dancing around it.
"Watch me!" I exclaimed, "FIRE DRAGON ROAR!" A single puff of smoke came out of my mouth and I coughed it out.
"Good job, you two," Igneels giant voice boomed over the mountains as he wrapped his wings around us, "You are gonna grow to be very powerful, but until then you have to train harder." Igneels stoic expression remained on his face, but pride was hidden in his eyes. It was almost invisible, but he was so proud at our first signs of fire.
These were the moments that I always loved. Natsu, Igneel, and me as a family. Being a dragon slayer, smell was important to me, and the smell of home always comforted me. A smell of fire and ice simultaneously. A smell of fresh snow, sparkling over a cut lawn. A smell of pine trees, glimmering over the horizon.
I opened my eyes and looked at the dark haired man with his arms wrapped around me. He was so different from everyone I'd met in the past. I looked around at everyone around me, who looked at me like they actually cared about me. I realized that they were different. That not everyone was out to get me. And that not everyone wanted me just for my power.
"I'm not gonna ask if you're okay because I know you'll lie and say you are. So I'm just gonna ask if you want to share anything and if you need any help," Gray's warm voice sounded like honey, sliding through every inch of my brain. He hadn't let go of me and I kept my arms wrapped around him.
"I'm not ready to share anything yet, but yes, I do need help," I admitted. This was the first time I'd asked for help. Asking for help wasn't weak. My face was buried in his arms and I realized that for once, he was actually wearing a shirt. I lifted my head out and looked at his ocean eyes, the deep blue almost black colour seemed to glisten.
"We are here if you need us," Erza told her, "We will listen to anything you need."
"Thank you," I mumbled. My whole body was still trembling. I debated letting go of Gray but I wanted to keep holding him. I wanted him. I needed him. Gray's protective hold didn't loosen as he kept me secure in his grasp, "Thank you," I whispered again.
A/N: Sorry for the short chapter, I didn't have much time to write
