The planet on the other side.

We've been watching and observing the planet from the very beginning.

In the beginning, it was a beautiful planet, full of diverse plants and animals. But soon, creatures started evolving. They got too smart for their own good. They started small; venturing from place to place hunting, then they discovered farming. A very small feat for us of course, we'd had farms for hundreds of thousands of years.

But to them, this was everything. They began staying in one spot, populations grew and governments formed. Empires rose and fell, countries were created and were destroyed. Allies turned on each other, and these creatures killed their own kind in mass amounts. We, a majorly peaceful race, were astonished and confused.

But it got worse.

They not only murdered their own kind, they overhunted the very animals that gave them life, causing them to become almost non-existent or entirely extinct. They didn't pay any mind to the detrimental damage they were doing to their planet and, in turn, themselves.

In an attempt to escape the hole they had dug for themselves, they tried to find habitable planets, eventually stumbling across us. They sent a message to us, asking if we could help them in any way. By the time we had received the message, however, they were gone.

There was no longer any sign of life on Earth, the Planet On the Other Side.

We went to investigate, but when we arrived the only thing showing there was ever any life on Earth was the damage done to the planet. The majority of what used to be land now was flooded due to global warming. There were mountains of plastic bottles and cars and other waste. The surface of the water was littered with cans and dead sea life strangled by 6-pack rings and plastic bags.

Dear Planet On the Other Side,

We're sorry we couldn't help you when you needed it most.

We're sorry you didn't realize the harm you were doing.

We're sorry humanity couldn't save itself.
