(first story and it's all my own, above is the picture that sparked the idea, warning: slight mentions of self harm)

It's dark and cold but soon I feel warm, only a little but it's enough. I open my eyes to see the metal bars in front of me 'great, I'm still in here' this has been my first thought every morning for as long as I've been in this place, I've seen others get taken to the back, never to return, while others get taken to the front. None come back, none that leave ever come back. I look up as I hear the door open and two pairs of footsteps make their way into the cold dark room where were kept 'another is going to be taken to the front' I watch as the large man that is in charge of taking care of us walks in, he's not very good at his job, with a younger looking girl, the girl is excited and it seems she can hardly contain her energy. The girl spots me and walks over to my cage "you don't want that one miss, he's ill-tempered" the man's gruff voice pierces the silence of the still room, the girl's eyes meet mine and she smiles, her eyes light up with warmth, the first I've seen since I got here "I'll take him" she says, reaching up to open my cage, I back up and hiss softly but her hands wrap around me, pulling me into her strong, warm arms and petting me, I feel comfortable there and happy as the girl walks towards the front with me in her arms, the man behind her. They exchanged some green paper and the girl leaves with me, a new collar around my neck, she's named me tiger, I like that name, she tells me we are going home, that sounds nice. When we get to the place she calls home and she takes off her jacket I notice marks on her arms and I hear a voice 'take care of my human' it says 'until I return' I give a slight nod and walk over to the girl, determined to save her as she saved me
