"Hello?"
"Can anyone hear me...?"
I could feel my bones becoming brittle from the crisp air surrounding me. I could hear nor see anything. Where am I?
"Hello?!"
I continued to call out for someone...anyone. Help, rescue, something. It felt hopeless and I felt helpless.
My head was throbbing from the solid hit I had taken before I awoke here. Wherever here was.
Suddenly, I could hear something. A soft, youthful voice.
"Is someone yelling? Does someone need help?"
I began to feel joy as I was ready to yell, "Yes!" Until the end of a barrel was slammed to my right temple. A crackled voice came to my ear, "You make a fucking sound I'll shoot them. Choose wisely."
I shivered from his breath on my cheek. The voice from outside continued to call. I wanted to yell out, get their attention, finally receive help.
I had already been blindfolded before I came to. I have no idea what this new home of mine looks like, nor do I really want to. What did they want with me? Why am I so special? I wasn't sure how long I'd been held hostage but I knew it had at least been a week. I couldn't see the sun or the moon, so my nights and days had become one. What would become of me? Were these my last memories?
The child on the street had gone and I had once again lost any hope I had left of being found, released, saved.
"Good girl," the rugged voice whispered while brushing my hair away from my face with his gun.
He then applied what felt like duct tape over my lips. I groaned and let out tears.
"Shhh shhh, don't cry my love," the voice began. "We don't need you getting into any trouble and hurting someone. This is for the best."
Really, the best?! I wanted to punch him in the mouth after he spit out those words. What kind of human is this man? To lock up some woman he doesn't know for days. I was wasting away and he seemed to enjoy every second of it. Seeing me weak gave him a high. It makes me sick.
Just then a loud crash came from above me. Gun shots burst, with the sounds of bodies hitting the floor. What was happening?! The man left my side and I could hear shouting and more pops. Who was causing all of this, was I finally found? I could only hope.
