I pushed my black locks of hair out of my face. My skin burnt against the rough waiting room chairs. My stomach turned in knots.

I couldn’t believe my mother was having a baby. A baby brother.

My eyes were locked onto the nurse, I was waiting for her to come up to me and say “Come with me Tristan, your baby brother is born!” But as time ticked on by, I got more and more nervous.

“Tristan, get a grip, you aren’t stupid, it takes a while for the baby to be born!” I whispered to myself. My brother, Mike turned to me and patted my shoulder “Calm down sis, moms ok.” I turned to him and gave him a slight smile. “I just wish dad was here…” I began. “No, you don’t. He doesn’t want to be with us, or with mom. We are with Mom and that jerk we call our dad isn’t.” He snapped. Mike put his head into his hands. “God…I’m sorry Tristan, I guess I’m nervous too.” I smiled at my brother again. “You’re right.”

The nurse came out of the office, and walked over to us. “You two the Myers?” She asked. The nurses voice sounded worried. “Ye-Yeah,” Mike replied, he studdered with his words, as if the worry in nurse was rubbing off on him. “Your mother, and her baby…didn’t make it.”
