Nathan had taken my camera to take the picture for today, but now was taking obnoxiously horrible pictures of me and refusing to give it back.
“Stoooooooooop,” I said before I lunged for him. “This isn’t even fair.” I made my eyes get big and I put my bottom lip out in a pout. Instead of succumbing to my wants, he just laughed and clicked another picture.
“I’m not falling for it princess,” he winked at me. I couldn’t hide the laughter that bubbled out of my mouth. He kept taking pictures and I covered my face to hopefully prevent some even more embarrassing pictures.
After five more minutes of playful badgering, I leaped and finally successfully grabbed my camera back out of his hands. I started looking through them before I realized what position I had gotten myself into.
Nathan had been taking pictures while laying down on my head with his hands stretched above his head and his foot out against my chest so I couldn’t go for it. Without thinking, I shoved his foot down and leapt to straddle him and grabbed the camera out of the hand he had held above his head, but not before he had managed to get a few pictures of it.
For some reason, instead of deleting the pictures, I just tucked the camera away inside of my bag.
“You’re such a douche,” I informed him, but he just accepted the insult with a goofy grin spread across his face.
“A douche you loooooove,” his voice sand to me.
“Ew, no,” I responded quicker than I intended. He snickered at me and just laid back on my bed staring at the ceiling. "Not even as a friend."
“Hey, do those things glow?” he asked me, changing the subject and pointing up at the stars and planets stickers that’d I’d stuck up onto my ceiling.
“Yup,” I replied, popping my lips. “Do you want to see?”
He nodded vigorously like a little kid and I couldn’t help but giggle again. It was nice feeling so care free and happy. I climbed onto the bed with him and snuggled against the arm he’d wrapped around my waist.
“This is nice poodle, but how about showing me,” he whispered huskily in my ear, sending shivers and tingles all the way down my spine. I sighed and clapped my hands.
The lights turned off and the ceiling lit up with purple, green, and orange planet and star stickers everywhere. I could faintly make out the shocked expression that was on Nathan’s face. I denied the giggle that was dying to come out and scooted closer so that my head was on his shoulder.
Suddenly I felt his rough hand slip to pull my chin up and gentley pull me to the point where our noses were touching.
“The stars are up there you idiot,” I told him, attempting to joke, but anticipation laced my voice and my breathe caught in my throat.
“Some things are better than others. You’re better than some glow in the dark stickers,” he said smoothly. His voice was sweet and sincere and it snapped me out of my trance. I pushed him away and clapped my hands so the lights would come back on.
I buried my face in my hands. What was I doing? Sitting here with him and cuddling and was I actually wanting to kiss him? God I’m an idiot. He says sweet nothings to every girl he ever talks to. They’re just words to him. He doesn’t know the meaning behind them. He doesn’t know what it means to actually feel them.
He pried my hands away from my face, but I refused to meet his questioning gaze.
“I think you need to go home now,” I said lightly, hopping off the bed and rummaging through my bag as if I were looking for something. “I need to do some more of my homework and I have a headache.” I could hear his footsteps coming nearer.
