It's Saturday morning. Mom is making breakfast while dad is trying to feed Anna, my sister. Anna is a picky eater. She won't eat anything that is green, brown or burnt (or at least she thinks it's burnt). "Riley, go get your dad a towel!" I run down the stairs with a towel in hand, almost slipping on my slippers. My dad snatches it out of my hands and tells me to go and get him Anna's toys. I run into the living room where my brother, Robbie is playing with his drone. Robbie is tall, smart and gets unconditional love from mom and dad. Everything I wish I was and had. I run pass Robbie and grab Anna's favourite toy, Hallie the Hippo. "What's the rush 'lil sis?" "Can't talk right now Robbie, have to bring Anna her toy." I run pass Robbie again and into the kitchen once again. "What took you so long?!" "Sorry." "Just go get dressed." I walk to my room and shut the door. I start to cry. I feel the warm tears coming down my cheeks. All the sudden, I start to ball. I can't help it. I let my emotions build inside me all week, at the end of the week, I just need to let them all out. Robbie comes knocking on my door. "Can I come in please?" "Just go away. I need to be alone right now." "It's 9:00 in the morning! Just let me in please!" "Fine!" I let Robbie in and shut the door, almost snagging his shirt. "So, what's up?" "Nothing......." "Oh, don't give me that! Tell me what's up!" I start to cry again. Robbie leans in and hugs me. "I think I already know what's up." I start to cry even more. Robbie hugs me tighter. "Remember when we were little and I gave you that promise stick?" "Yeah. I still have it." "Good. Did you know it's not just a promise stick? Did you know it's more than that?" "Yeah, you tell me that every time." All the sudden I hear my name being screamed from downstairs. I suddenly remember that I was suppose to change my cloths. "I'll tell mom you're getting dressed." "You know she's just going to yell at me even more for being slow." I hear my name being yelled again. "Just go. I'd rather me get yelled at instead of you." Robbie leaves sadly. I hear stomping up the stairs. Oh boy, I'm in trouble now!
