Chapter one
Aanya PhamMy brown, curly hair was being difficult, tangling with the brush as I tried to make it presentable. The bags under my eyes seemed to weigh down my entire face.
Yajusha had texted me 5 minutes ago that she was already in front of my house with Teesta in her sleek, charcoal colored convertible Lambo, and I wasn't wearing pants.
I yanked on a pair of light wash jeans that are as distressed as I am before grabbing an egg and a banana and lunging out the door. I traced my finger over the small Andy Warhol inspired banana on my black T-shirt that shows what an angsty teen I am before diving head first into the back seat.
I then realized that in my haste, I had grabbed a raw egg and a banana, both being foods I hated.
Awww man.
"We're going to Starbucks, I need iced coffee," I said, turning to Yajusha. Her hair was relatively straight, and she was wearing a rust colored sweater that was probably from American Eagle.
"Maybe if you were on time, we could have." Yajusha sassily sister said from the front sister seat.
Teesta was fast asleep in the front as we rolled into Yeehaw High's parking lot. No one paid attention to us EVEN THO WE WERE IN A LAMBO. SMH. Yajusha and I woke up Teesta and then ran to our lockers. I quickly hung up my poopy jacket, grabbed my awful books, and sprinted to class. I just made it to class and as I sat down the bell rang. My awful English teacher looked over her glasses and scowled at me as she started her lesson
"This week we are learning about Romeo and Juliet," Mrs.Carlson said as the entire class let out a very in sync groan. "If anyone would like to take an L for this semester please talk to me after class". This shut everyone up and she started to talk about the syllabus. We would read Romeo and Juliet, 'dissect it', and then next week partner up and act a scene she would give us. I started to drift away as she talked about 'the importance of reading classical literature and learned the hidden meaning behind Shakespeare's words'. I started to reminisce of the time my phamily went on vacation to Pennsylvania and went skiing. The snow fell in fragile, dainty flakes that day, and the log cabin we stayed in was secluded and warm. It was the week before Christmas and everyone was excited. Waking up that chilly morning was one of the best feelings in the world, second only to racing down the slopes that day.
The bell rang, bringing me out of my daze, as I went to my next class. I couldn't believe that that was already 3 years ago and I would be stuck in this awful Yeehaw heat for another winter.
I was actually excited to go to my next class, calc , because I had it with one of my only friends in this hellhole, Alex Lange. He waved me over to where sat, in the back by the windows. I know, stereotypical loners.
His bronze hair spilled onto his forehead slightly, right above his clear blue eyes. A wide grin played on his lips as I approached him, his happy demeanor as contagious as always.
Math was actually really easy for Alex and I, so we normally goofed off, but our teacher, Mr. Peters didn't care because we were his smartest students. Because my sleep was interrupted this morning by my fucking alarm clock, my plan was to sleep during math. Alex decided that wasn't going to happen and kept throwing paper balls at me.
"Alex,"
"What?"
"Stop it."
"No. I'm bored." He finished, throwing another rolled up paper ball at my face.
"Fuck you, Alex."
"Ha, You wish."
I turned to face him before whacking his head.
"Heyy," he cooed annoyingly, "don't be embarrassed. Everyone does."Alex and I's friendship was a weird one, but it worked. I met him in freshman year bio, he tripped me on accident on the third day of school.
We ended up playing paper football, and I won, not surprisingly. My class right before lunch was Hindi, my chosen second language, which I had with Teesta and Yajusha. I started counting down the seconds until lunch. I could feel myself dozing off, counting down the seconds until the bell rang.
"AANYA PAY ATTENTION!" my teacher squealed, his voiced getting higher than his receding hairline. I didn't care, because there was less than a minute left in class.Yajusha, Teesta and I began walking to lunch.
Alex soon joined us as we sat down at a table outside, the sun just barely peeking out from behind the clouds.
Not two seconds later, a dark-haired, flamboyant boy with purple eyelids approached the table.
"Hi sisters!" James squealed, sitting in between Yajusha and Alex.
He crossed his legs and placed his chin in his palms, quickly joining in on the conversation.
"OMG did you guys hear about the hot new twins that moved to town?" James suddenly said loudly. None of us did, which was weird considering that Yeehaw town was minuscule, and people moving here was a big deal.Alex rolled his eyes fondly. "James please check to see if they are gay before you hit on them. You can't actually turn people gay."
"Oh really? Wait and see sister." James scoffed.
"We don't need another Nick fiasco"
"HE WAS SO INTO ME!"
"HE HAS A GIRLFRIEND!"Teesta decided to cut in before a fight happened. "So do you know if they already moved here?" she asked.
"I think they have," James responded, before proceeding to rant about some 'straight' boy who was trying to slide into his Instagram DMs.
I'd be lying if I said that I wasn't intrigued by the thought of twins moving to Yeehaw town. Yeehaw Town is a small place, and I've never seen twins before.
I scarfed down a sandwich, turning to face Yajusha as she sipped her tea.
We left lunch, and before I knew it the last bell rang, signaling the end of another day. Alex, James, Teesta, Yajusha, and I all piled into Yajusha's Lambo, and we went to Torchy's Tacos, home of the best queso.
We all decided that we would go to a club that was opening in downtown Austin, later that night. Yajusha dropped us all off at our houses to change before we would meet up at Alex's, so James could do our makeup. James was amazing, and I always said he could make a career out of makeup, but he wasn't confident in himself. It was sad to see someone so talented feel so unsure of themselves, all I wanted for him was a chance for his success. He deserved it.
I was sprawled on Yajusha's bed when James sent me two Instagram accounts through DM.'Found them! ;)'
I shook my head at his message before clicking on the attached accounts.
Ah.
He had found the Instagram accounts of the two twins he has mentioned.
I glanced over them, skimming their usernames and bios before turning off my phone, remembering to properly stalk later.
Their names slipped my mind as I stood up to see what Yajusha was wearing. I believe their last name was 'Dildo.'
Freaky, but okay.So that's what was running through my mind that night. James' makeup, Yajusha's Lambo, and a set of dildo twins.
