I woke up to Alexandre shaking me to wake me up. He had this dumb smile on his face again and you could easily see that he was planning on training me all day long.
"Hey, why did you wake me up? I need my beauty sleep you know," I said sleepily.
How dare he wake me up. I'm a lady. You simply do not wake ladies up while they are asleep.
He stopped shaking me and stood up, "Yeah... you really do need your beauty sleep," he said.
And now my only friend was being mean to me. Sad.
"Hey, not nice!" I yelled, standing up.
He smiled, "Now that you're up, training can begin".
It was all a trick. Wow. He planned everything and tricked me into getting up to train with him. I looked at him angrily. I have to save the world so I can't sleep all day anymore, and because of that I was grumpy.
"So... how are we going to train me then?" I asked.
He gave me an apple and said, "Breakfast first, questions then... but for your information, you will be meditating to strengthen your connection with your spirituality."
So I will literary sit and talk in my mind or something.
I took a bite out of the apple. It actually tasted really good. I don't really like apples but this was probably the first apple that I really liked.
When the apple was gone I looked at Alexandre, "So are we going to train me then?".
"Yes. Start meditating, try to get a connection with anything not here," he said while taking out a book and started reading.
I focused. I really did, but it just didn't work. I sat for hours at a time with no progress. It really is difficult to try to find something if you have no idea what you're searching for.
I stood up, "This is so freaking dumb! It's not working and it never will! Why can't everything just be as it always been?". I was so frustrated I started crying.
Alexandre looked up from his book, "Try again," he said.
I got really mad. How dare he just tell me to 'try again? I've tried for hours and nothing.
"Why should I try again? I've tried for hours and it didn't work! It won't work out of nowhere now," I yelled.
"Strong emotions," he said while he began to read his book again.
I sat down once more and began meditating. And it worked. I could sense something. It wasn't much, but it was something. I got so excited I started crying again.
"It worked, it really did! Alexandre, we are going to meet our families again!" I was so happy I could scream.
Alexandre didn't look as happy. He wasn't even smiling. Oh no... did I say something to make him sad? Wait... he does have a family, right?
"I'm sorry... did I say something to make you sad?... Alexandre?..," I whispered, hoping I didn't hurt his feelings.
He looked at me and smiled, "No, it's fine..." he said. Though I didn't believe him, I didn't ask about it because he obviously didn't want to talk about it.
I stood up and walked over to the window. The water seemed less traumatizing than before. I may actually be able to save this place.
It was getting dark and it should be time for dinner. I went to where we kept our food at the other side of the classroom. I picked out the meat I wanted and went to our 'kitchen'.
After cooking the meat I put it on two plates and walked over to Alexandre.
He was still reading his book and didn't seem to notice I was there so I said, "Hey".
He looked up from his book, "Hi, dinner?".
I gave him the plate and he instantly began eating. He must've been really hungry.
I sat down and began eating my own food. It tasted really good for once. This was the best food I've ever cooked while being here. The meat was perfectly cooked and melted in the mouth when you ate it.
When we were done eating, Alexandre said something I wasn't prepared at all to hear, "So... you know when I wasn't smiling when you said we could meet our parents?".
Oh... that was what he wanted to talk about, "Yeah. What about it?," I asked.
He looked like he was thinking about something then said, "My parents are long gone. I've always been an orphan. I've been to numerous foster parents, none of them was like real parents. I was always like 'the other kid' they had. Just before the apocalypse I ran away to this place, where no one would find me."
Wow... that was a lot to take in. I never had a dad and it must be twice that feeling for him.
He continued, "This place was safe from those searching for me, though I doubt anyone cares that I'm gone..."
Then, I said something I never said to anyone, "You know... if you were to disappear, I would care," wow... I never thought I would say that to anyone, ever.
He stared at me with wide open eyes. It was like he was surprised to hear those words, even more surprised than I was, that is.
Then, after a minute or so he said, "You would?... After all I did... no, you don't know what I have done...".
I had no idea what he had done, but at that time, I could forgive anything. It's kinda my thing not to care what people do because I know that I may have done worse.
"Alexandre, I do care about you. I don't care what you have done. Just go to bed now, okay?," I told him.
He whispered, "Okay..." then walked over to his things and layed down to sleep and so did I.
