Vampires. Myth or legend? Real or fake? I wondered as I wandered down the dark ally. I had to find out what was going on. So far four bodies had been found in the small town of Cape Cove drained of blood and they all has strange puncture wounds on the neck, wrists, and legs. All of the girls were sixteen years old and were in my class. Police think there is a serial killer and is warning all girls to not go out after dark, and to always travel in groups. If my parents knew I was out here I would be grounded for life. A sixteen year old emo girl traveling through dark allies by herself not exactly smart but oh well.

I was on my way to an old abandoned mansion, only blocks away from where the bodies were. Lately I have been seeing shadows cross past the windows so I had decided to check it out. Call me crazy if you will, but I would sacrifice myself to save at least one more of the girls that are in my class.

I climbed over the old metal gate and began the long uphill walk to the black mansion. Seriously, who paints a mansion black? Talk about freaky. It was two stories high with a one huge room in the main floor. Most of the windows were either missing or shattered. The white curtains blew eerily in the light June breeze. I pulled the hood of my black hoodie to conceal my pale face. My black emo hair hung in my pale green eyes.

I finally reached the house and the door was already opened slightly. I slipped silently inside. There was next to no light, but I didn’t dare turn on the flashlight I had tucked inside my sweater. I heard footsteps on the top floor and I froze. There was someone or something in this building with me, and it new I was here. I flatted myself against the wall near the staircase.. The footsteps stopped, but then began running down the stairs at an inhumanly fast speed.

I took off running out the door and down the path. My pursuer slammed the door behind me and cursed in a low voice. I jumped and pulled myself over the fence. I landed ungracefully on the other side. I was never that scared in my life as I bolted down the dark streets until I reached my house.

It was on the edge of town and was small, but cute. I jumped over our white picket fence and climber the big tree in our back yard. I pushed my bedroom window open, and silently slid through. Once inside, I locked the widows and drew the curtains shut. I sat in my bed on top of the covers unable to sleep after what had just happened.

The next morning my alarm clock went off at six. It was officially the last day of grade 11.i rolled out of bed and put on my favourite short shorts, and a black tee. I straightened and back combed my black hair, then completed it with a small red bow. I grabbed my backpack and walked to school. At school my best friend was waiting for me, she was wearing a black miniskirt and a purple tank top.

“Hey, Tally!” she shouts excitedly. Her blonde hair was up in a bun. “What’s happening, Megan?” I ask in a shy voice. We walked and talked together to class. Well it was more she talked, I listened. When we finally got to class we took our seats in the back corner. The teacher announced that we were having an assembly in five minutes and that we could talk for a while.

Dustin Swift walked in and smiled at me. He was tall with sandy blonde hair that was always spiked up. He’s the kind of guy that could get any girl he wanted because he’s one of the best football players on the team. However he only had the occasional girlfriend and it seemed he liked emo girls like me. Dustin walked to the back of the class and took the seat next to me.

Five minutes later the announcements told us to make our way down to the gym. Dustin purposely walked beside me, making me feel really short. We sat through a two hour long, not to mention boring, assembly then we were free of school for another two months.
