Luka's POV

"Yuki..." Takashiro sat by his side, his body limp on the floor. The clan gathered around him, his body holding a soft glow around it, though he still lay silent and lifeless on the floor.

"Yuki-chan.." Toko choked out as tears fell down her cheeks. She couldn't stand to see her friend - her family - hurt. Tskumo wrapped his arms around his sister, holding her close as he let a few of his own tears roll down his cheek.

I stood in the back, I couldn't look at him. This was all my fault, I couldn't protect him. He was mine, my responsibility. This was my only purpose in life and I had failed once again. I couldn't bare to be in this room, with his family, the people who I had once actually been accepted by and considered my friends.

He was going to want to hear from me soon, I was his after all and the only way I could run was because of Yuki. He'll figure out soon enough he's gone and come looking for me. I love Yuki, I promised I would protect him until the very end, with my own life. The only way I can do it now is protect his body and the people he loves most. If I stay here, he'll come and destroy everything in his path.

It's just better this way. And too painful for me to stay.

I stepped out before anybody could notice my absence, I know they would try to convince me to stay. They're all good like that, they don't deserve the hell that will come for me soon.

Luze would be waiting for me, he always was. He wanted me to come home to rub it in that he was the new favorite, the captain of the army now. I had forfeited everything for Yuki, and I would do it again a hundred times over. But now that he was gone, I couldn't escape my fate any longer. The only thing that had kept me safe was the contract, and with Yuki gone, that was severed in the eyes of the devil.

The door opened, staring straight down into the pits of the Earth. Some place I used to call home, how ironic. Taking a step in, I could instantly feel the hatred surround me like a cloud of smoke, making it harder for me to breathe.

Instantly, I had the duras on me, trying to suck my blood dry. None of the could resist the blood of the Bloody Cross. Thunder rang out from above, a sign that he wasn't happy with their behavior. Odd, thinking he'd want me more dead than alive.

Making my way to his palace, I began to remember the last time I had been here, and all the horrible things I had done. Each memory began to burn into my skin, scarring me everywhere.

"Brother, it's so nice of you to join us." I heard from behind me. Luze.

"It wasn't by choice, I assure you. Come to think of it, it was all your fault, siding with Reiga like that." I kept walking, looking ahead as he sauntered beside me, staring intently to see if he could get a rise out of me. There was no way he could, I couldn't feel anything except loss and rage. The combination of the two made me numb to every other feeling out there.

"Well, father is eager to see you. He's happy the contract is broken with the Giou clan and you can finally return to the family table with us. Although, I run the army now you know, since you decided to forfeit your position for some harlot." Luze knew what he was doing, smirking in my peripheral. Although he was the leader now, I still was the most powerful opast in the underworld. I flicked him like a bug off the bridge, he caught himself of course, but decided to exit my field of vision.

Duras aren't supposed to feel anything except anger towards the human race, which is why they attempt to kill any chance they are given. Unlike low class duras, an SS class like myself isn't supposed to spend time in outside of the underworld because we are essentially corrupt human souls and can being to develop human morals and feelings when too much time is spent on earth.
