I got home and slammed my car door not hiding any annoyance I might have. I grimaced as I did that, it wasn't my car's fault my mom is being such a pain in the ass!

I walked up towards the stairs, when I got to the top I paused before I opened the door, it was being rattled, someone was trying to open the door.

I carefully grabbed the door knob and turned it pushing the door slightly and there he was.

"Skyyyyy! You're homeee!" my little brother came running towards me with his arms opened. He jumped and I instantly caught him mid air, completely  forgetting everything I had in my mind.

"Come here Connor!! What were you doing, you little rascal!?"

"Mommy said she wants to talk," he said resting his head in the crook of my neck.

"Aw Connor, are you tired?" I asked him snuggling him closer to me.

He nodded his head yes and to prove it he yawned. "There little man, you can sleep now," I said while patting his head full of hair.

I love my little brother to death! I absolutely have no idea what I would do if I didn't have him in my life.

He's three years old. He was practically raised by his Nanny and myself, my mom being out of town a lot so we had to take care of him. But I can't complain because he's the best.

It's almost like he's my kid instead of my little brother. I watched him as he was peacefully trying to sleep in my arms when I heard my mom calling me.

"Skye! Where are you?"

"In the living room mom, lower your voice you're gonna wake Connor up!"

"Just go set him down on the couch for a minute I have to tell you something."

I nodded and obeyed her. I went to set Connor down on the couch careful not to wake him. I walked back towards the kitchen to where my mom was at.

I sighed, "Ok, spit it out. What is so important that I had to get out of school early?"

"Oh quit wyning it was your last class anyways. I'm going to another country to do some work. So I'm not going to be here all this year. So I'm going to need you to take care of Connor and you to be responsible while I'm gone."

I stood there shocked for a whole minute. "W...what! You can't just go to another damn country and leave your three year old son!"

"I don't care if you leave me here by myself I practically raised myself but you're leaving Connor, and he's barely three! He needs his mother!"

"Oh don't be dramatic! You'll stay here so you'll be the one taking care of him plus Lydia is going to be here too. I will be sending you money so you don't have to worry about all that. You've done all this before I don't know why you're being such a drama queen!"

"Yes, I've done this before but not a whole year and with a three year old! And who knows, being you, you'll probably stay there longer!"

I can't believe...wait yes I do believe my mom would be capable of doing this but poor little Connor.

He needs his mother, not that I had her in my life much but I don't want him to grow up like me.

"You know what! Do what you have to do, I don't even care anymore!" I stormed out of the kitchen going to the living room to get Connor. I picked his little body up effortlessly and carried him up the stairs to his room.

I didn't know I had tears in my eyes until they were falling. I hate this! Why do I have to be the one responsible for everything!?

I looked at Connor sleeping peacefully and that made me cry even more. I just don't want him not to have what I had when I was younger.
