Goodbye

It was awful, more than she could have imagined. She squeezed her eyes shut as pain erupted throughout her body as the sounds of explosions and screen explosions and screams rang in her ears.

“Stop!” Shouted a familiar voice, “Don't hurt her. She's done nothing wrong, she doesn't deserve this.”

Sayaka Miki groaned and wrapped her arms around herself. The pain was starting to worsen. It was becoming unbearable, both the pain and the thought that flashed through her mind, She's going to die. She didn't want to die, she was terrified of the thought. But at this point, there was nothing she could do to keep it from happening. The end of her life was near. It was only matter of time.

Another groan of pain escaped her lips as she squeezed herself tighter. Pain was the only thing she could feel. Why weren't they helping her? Sayaka's friends, she knew they were there somewhere, so why weren't they helping her? She needed them, so where were they?

“Guys,” Croaked Sayaka weakly, “W-where... are you?”

No response. This worried her. Anxiety built up inside her. What the hell? Where were they? Did something happen? What was happening? Should she open her eyes? They had been closed for so long it almost felt like an impossible task.

She groaned once more before forcing her heavy eyelids open. Once she did she immediately wished she hadn't.

Destruction was all she could see. She could make out tips of crumbled buildings that towered over her. Smoke clouded her lungs making it difficult for her to breathe.

A heartbeat later, a loud crash thundered through the air. Flashes of light could be seen, followed by the stronger smell of smoke. Her vision faded in and out from the thick cloud of smoke that hovered over her.

Sayaka dropped her arms to her sides to her sides, smacking them against the hard pavement beneath her. The pain in her body had started to subside except from the slight pain in the back of her hands. Her blurry vision began to worsen as she felt her consciousness start to slip away.

Was this it? Was this how she going to die, alone, in the middle of the street, with destruction and despair all around her? Yes, that sounds about right. This was how she thought it would happen, alone with nothing around her.

With her eyelids growing heavier once again, she thought she saw something unusual falling for the sky. It looked like a… spear, and it was falling fast and right at her. Her eyes fluttered shut, only to snap open in horror and agony.

It had gone right through her lower abdomen. The pain had returned once more only twice as horrible, only this time, her body no longer had the strength to stay awake.

Sayaka's eyes closed for the final time, her consciousness slipping faster and faster. Eventually, she would bleed out and no one would notice until it was too late. By the time someone would have noticed her absence, she would have already be dead. There was only one problem, she didn't want to die. She was terrified if the thought.

There was still some much she wanted to do. So much she wanted to say. She hadn't saved everyone yet. She hadn't even graduated yet. She hadn't masted being a magical girl. But most importantly, she hadn't told Kyoko that she…

And her mind slipped away before she could finish that thought.
