Gavin crossed his arms and looked away, his face turning a deep red. He side glanced at Conan, who was smiling sweetly at him. Gavin averted his gaze and huffed.
"There's no need to be embarrassed, Detective," Conan said, kneeling down to Gavin's level.
"Stop callin' me detective," Gavin spat. "We're not at work, you don't have to be so formal."
"Ok, Gavin." Conan looked over the small man, memorizing all the details on his face . He noticed the pink hue that covered Gavin's cheek. He did a quick scan and found that Gavin's heart rate had increased. Conan stood up and sat on the couch next to Gavin, causing the detective to turn his head, avoiding the android's eyes.
Suddenly, a loud boom of thunder broke the silence, shaking the building a little. Gavin jumped and let out a small yelp before covering his mouth, embarrassed by the noise he just made. Conan turned to Gavin, who had his knees to his chest and was holding a pillow in his arms.
"Are you afraid of storms?" Conan asked.
"What! N-no!" Gavin said, his voice shaky. Then, another clap of thunder roared outside and it even made the lights flicker. Gavin yelped again, this time burying his face in the pillow. Conan's soft expression turned into one of concern and worry. He was about to ask Gavin if he was ok when the sound of thunder returned, this time causing the power to go out. Conan activated his night vision, something only newer models were equipped with, and turned to see a sobbing Gavin who had abandoned his pillow and now had his head in his knees.
"Gavin?" Conan asked, worried.
"Leave me alone!" Gavin spat, still sobbing into his knees. Conan reached out to comfort Gavin, only to stopped by some sort of barrier. He put both hands against the digital red wall in front of him. Leave him alone. Conan slammed his fist against the wall again and again, slowly chipping away at it. He pounded the wall again and again, breaking it piece by piece. Conan grabbed the message and tugged on it, prying it off and causing the wall to disappear completely. He could see Gavin again, who was sobbing heavily. He reached out and pulled Gavin into a tight embrace.
"It's okay," Conan said softly. "You're not alone. I'm here, you're okay."
Gavin didn't say anything in response, but instead just wrapped his arms around Conan and nuzzled his head into his Cyberlife jacket and cried. Conan ran his fingers through Gavin's surprisingly soft hair, resting his chin on the top of Gavin's head. Anxiety welled up inside of Conan. He had broken through his programming. He was deviant now. If cyberlife found out, they'd reset him. He couldn't let that happen. He needed to be here for Gavin. He wanted to be here for Gavin. He could fake it, make everyone believe he was still a machine, that he didn't feel emotions, that he didn't care for Gavin the way he did. He could keep it all inside. He had to, for Gavin's sake.
Gavin pulled away slightly and looked up at Conan, his cheeks and eyes red and puffy from crying. Conan looked down at Gavin, wanting to take away all of his pain.
"D-don't leave me.." Gavin sobbed "Please don't leave me.." Conan placed his knuckle under Gavin's chin and tilted his head.
"I won't," Conan said softly. "You have my word."
Gavin smiled faintly. He couldn't understand why Conan was being so nice to him. He was used to people hating him. Having someone be this affectionate felt strange. For so long he'd been able to keep up his facade, always pushing people away before the saw how vulnerable he really was. It had always been just Gavin. He was used to the loneliness he constantly felt. Somehow, Conan had managed to break through all of that. Conan made him feel alive again. He made him feel feelings he hasn't felt since he was a little kid. It comforted Gavin, but it also scared him.
A wave of emotions consumed Gavin. Confusion, anger, excitement, fear, sadness, and frustration. He hated not being in control of his feelings. He hated the way Conan flustered him. He hated how Conan could so easily break through his defenses. But he knew one thing, he didn't hate Conan.
Conan looked down at his sobbing counterpart. His face grew redder every second and more tears started forming at the corners of his eyes. Without thinking, he tilted Gavin's head up his his knuckle and leaned his own head down and closed the gap between them, gently connecting their lips. Gavin's breathing hitched but he didn't pull away. Instead, he wrapped his arms around Conan's neck and ran his fingers through his silky hair, ruffling it up in the process. Surprisingly, the android's lips were soft and warm. Gavin kissed him back, pushing his lips against Conan's.
After about a minute of sweet and gentle kisses, Conan pulled away from the detective. He could feel his cheeks heat up as he looked down at Gavin, whose face was a bright red.
"The storm appears to have stopped." Conan said calmly.
"Y-yeah.." Gavin stuttered, looking away.
"You should get some rest, detective. It's late and you'll most likely have a headache in the morning." Gavin nodded and nuzzled his face into the crook of Conan's neck. "Detective?"
"Carry me." Gavin said in a childish voice as he wrapped his legs around Conan's waist. Conan let out a small sigh and picked up Gavin and carried him to his to bedroom. He set Gavin down on the side of the bed. Gavin kept his grip on Conan, holding on for dear life.
"Let go, detective." Conan whispered softly.
"No." Gavin replied in a whiney voice.
"It's late, you need sleep."
"Only if you lay with me." Conan chuckled to himself. He had no idea Gavin had this side to him. He liked it.
"Will you sleep if I do?"
"Yeah, sure, just get in bed." Gavin let go of Conan and got underneath the covers. Conan took off his shoes and hung his cyberlife jacket on the doorknob. He turned around to get in bed and saw Gavin making grabby hands at him. He really was a child. Conan walked over to the bed and lifted the covers and got under them. Gavin immediately cuddled up to Conan, wrapping his arms and legs around him and burying his face in the crook of Conan's neck. Conan returned the favor and wrapped his arms around his smaller counterpart. He could feel Gavin's hot breath against his synthetic skin. Gavin soon fell asleep, snoring softly. Conan kissed the top of his head before going into standby.
