I always thought that dying would hurt. That I would feel every wave of pain that came with my body drawing cold. Funny thing is; it was nothing like that. The last thing I remember on November 18th 2018, was the flash of headlights...and then...just nothing. It was like the world slipped away, my worries, my fears, all just...gone.
I expected there to be some white light or door or whatever, but that didn't happen either. There was just this rush of peace and comfort that set in, all before my world awoke once again. I wasn't in a hospital bed or a coffin, thank god, but as odd as it sounds, I stood in a classroom. Desks sat in rows, all facing a white board that read "Guardianship for Dummies" in blue dry-erase marker.

It must have been four in the morning when my phone started buzzing on the nightstand beside my bed. I wouldn't have even heard it had it not been for the fact that I laid awake that night, stressed about my exams the following day. College wasn't exactly treating me well, but then again, did it treat any human being with any decency? Anyways, I remember sitting up in bed, glancing at my roommate that was fast asleep across the room, before grabbing the i-phone from it's charger. A picture of my mother's face covered the screen, and below it in black text; "Mom". With slight confusion and a bit of worry, I answered, only to be met with a string of tears and information that would haunt me for the rest of my life.

This is the story of Jack and Rose, and no, they have no relations to the Titanic I'll have you know. A cold snowy night in October is met with tragedy when a drunk driver plows into Rose's car, a nineteen year old on her way home to see her family for thanksgiving break. She had dreams, plans, a future...but that all came to a crashing halt...quite literally. When she awakes, she is no longer a part of the living world, at least not completely. She is, if you hadn't gathered, very much dead.
After given the blessing, or should I say burden, of Guardianship, Rosalie Greymore assumes her role as Angel. What does an angel do you may ask, well that's just something you and her will have to figure out together, I'm only narrating this thing, ya know, third person and all.
Jack Alexander on the other hand is a cocky twenty-one year old living the college senior dream. Parties, alcohol, girls, you name it, he's got it. He receives the call that a girl from his younger years has passed, yeah, you guessed it, Rose. Who else right? Felling obligated to attend the family friend's funeral, he leaves for Thanksgiving break early. After all, he did always like rose, sometimes even more than the little sister that she portrayed herself as to him.
However, it's not what happens at the funeral that throws a wrench into his party boy plans, but what happens after he returns that flips his life upside-down.
