Monsters are everywhere, in your closet, under your bed, but the most dangerous monsters are the ones you don't always see. They hide in plain sight, right under your nose. They are the people you trust the most, a family member, a friend. You must be watchful for these monsters, because the scars they leave behind aren't always seen.

 "Emmalee! It's time to go!"

"Okay Daddy!" Emmalee ran down the stairs with her little seven year old legs. She stopped and jumped into her father's arms.

"Are you ready to Emmybug?"

"Yeah. Hey Daddy, guess what,

"What," Eugene Kalaker carried his daughter from the stairs to the car.

"It's my birthday tomorrow, I'm gonna be eight!" Emmalee shouted from her booster seat.

An everyday occurrence in this two person family. They were always happy. Even without Emmalee's mother. Though, on the day of Emmalee's birthday, everything changed. The monster of her past, had come back to haunt her. She woke up as usual and went down the stairs to find the man she called 'daddy.'

"Daddy! Where are you?!" she called for her father, but could find him nowhere.

"Daddy?" The child was starting to become doubtful that her father was even in the house.

"What are you doing out of your room!" Emmalee looked up to find her father standing over her, except, he wasn't acting like himself. He was acting like a monster. She looked to his hand to find the source of the monster's powers, a brown, glass bottle with a black paper band and writing across the middle. She ran to her room, fearing what was to come. This wasn't the first time. This monster had visited her frequently throughout her previous seven years, only becoming more constant as the years went by. It was the reason her mommy had left them, and never returned.

Years later, 18 year old Emmalee Kalaker walked to school, jacket covering her bruises and burns. She didn't have many friends, and the ones she did have, ignored her most of the time. At home, she was ignored or beaten. There was no escape from the torture that was her life. It was a never ending prison. She cannot escape the monster that is her own flesh and blood.

So you see, monsters are everywhere. Whether under your bed, in your closet, or they are a person you know. Your monsters will always be there.
