Is the world plastic or is it nature? Do we use so many plastic things, that is our planet even a planet? Yes, yes we do use so many plastics that out planet is basically plastic. We use it for bags, for containers, water bottles, and many other things. our planet is dying and we help with that. why do we help with that? we should be working to help the earth. The earth is such a beauty and we are the beast. Plastic is almost impossible to destroy. It lingers in on the earth for about 1000 years. But plastic bags we use in our everyday life take 10-1000 years to decompose, while plastic bottles can take 450 years or more. For example, there is a sea turtle out there named Duffy. What happened to her is called Floater's Syndrome which is when the plastics that she ate ( because plastic bags look like jellyfish) are preventing her from diving down under water to eat. She went to shore got spotted and was helped. This is a true story by "Wild Tribe Children's Books" this is only one example of what plastic does to the community. This could also happen to dolphins because dolphins eat jellyfish to. Over 100 million marine animals are killed each year due to plastic debris in the ocean. Currently, it is estimated that there are 100 million tons of plastic in oceans around the world. That is a lot of trash in the ocean. About 75% is uncollected to be recycled and 25% is recycled. Even when plastic is decomposed it is turned into micro-beads. They are small and toxic. They make about 700 species ate risk. Plastic when ingested or entangled can cause choking, intestinal blockage, or even starvation can take only 83 micro-beads. They size from 10 micrometers (0.00039 in) to 1 millimeter (0.039 in). That's small. animals might also digest micro-beads. This causes health issues for humans when we eat the fish. Micro-beads contain lead, mercury, bisphenol-A. Bisphenol-A can cause health effects on the brain, behavior and prostate gland of fetuses, infants and children. That is a major problem to humans. Plastic pollution affects Tourism, Fisherman, and Transportation. Some ways we can help is make prevention policies, use reusable products, reduce the amount of plastic, and buy products with no plastic packaging. "Problems can not be solved at the same level of awareness that created them. BY A. Einstien. Another instance for plastic pollution is a dead whale washed up in Indonesia. They cut it open and found 13 pounds of plastic in its body. More than 1,000 assorted pieces of plastic, including 115 cups, 25 bags, four bottles and two flip-flops in the dead whale. That is how bad plastic pollution is. Plastic will be a problem for many many generations to come unless we start to do something about it now! We can help with the three Rs'. Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle. Remember these heart-breaking stories and help now!
