Chapter 3: Curse of Time

"Hey Honey, what'd you get us?" Alyssa asked Jonathan, oblivious of what he just done. He looked at the tickets in his hands. There was also a pamphlet that read, "Congratulations! You won the all expense paid trip to the Bahamas! We pay for everything you do while your there, just take the card on the inside of this pamphlet. It activates once you arrive, and deactivates once you leave!"

"The Bahamas," Jonathan said, glad that the angel gave him that too. Alyssa was worried, they could never afford the Bahamas.

"How did you get those? We could never afford that," she said.

"I won them I guess," He responded. Alyssa looked excited, but didn't say anything after that. She went to pack everyone's bags. 

-Time Skip ~2 years 11/21/17-

Alex's POV (10:55am): 

Now is gym class. I've only been good at swimming, but at least that means I can focus on that and get even better at it. I'm fully out as pan to the school, they make fun of me about it, but that's fine because I know that it's just them trying to hide their emotions about other things, at least it gives them some comfort. We're doing basketball today, my least favorite sport. At least I have a chance to try it again. Maybe I'll like it more. 

My team starts with the basketball. My best friend, Cameron has the ball. He tries passing it to me, I got it but I fail when I take the shot. I try and guard someone on the enemy team, but he ends up with the ball anyways. He made the shot, even though I was trying to take it from him. It's only basketball, and as long as I participate I'll be fine. 

Next class is physics. It's hard, I have a 71, but that means I have a chance to grow. We are given an assignment which I don't understand, but I have Cameron. Cameron was able to explain to me how to find how much the ball bounces up when it hits the ground. I understand it now. I was able to do the rest of the assignment pretty easily except for the last part which was a good chance for me to learn.

-Time Skip ~1 year. 12/3/18-

Seth's POV (11:30 am): Lunch. The only time where we aren't bombarded with things that don't make sense unless you count the cafeteria menu, which I do. It's also a chance to choke. Why does everyone say they love lunch? Your more likely to choke than die of dehydration. I sit down, alone. I'm always alone. No one seems to like how I know about every way things can go wrong. 

After lunch I had biology. I am good at biology because I need to know all the dangers of the body. I put a lot of effort and only after I found out how bad it was to put that much effort. I took way too much of a risk. I don't know how Alex could stay on the swim team. The chance of drowning...

The guys on his swim team though.... I would take a chance at them but no one but Alex knows I'm gay and then they could let it out. Then I would be destroyed. Also, I am way out of their league. They are so HOT and I'm a fat ugly muffin. The only thing good about me is the fact that my hair was easy to dye. Who would dye their hair black though? Do they think I'm emo? I'm not, I just know about the dangers out there and how bad taking risks is. The final reason why I don't take a chance at those guys and it works, they could still drown. If I actually get a guy and he dies it would destroy me. 

-Time Skip a little under ~5 years. 5/11/2023- 

Jonathan's POV (7:42pm) :

Tomorrow is when the spell takes effect. Up until now their luck has been mediocre, they found stable jobs but they can't seem to get further than where they are now. I hope Alex is able to survive with the curse. It will probably ruin a lot of things about his life. However, his curse will be his blessing. If he took less risk and was able to do the logical thing more, he would be much further. I just hope Seth doesn't go too far. It is giving him his life. He barely ever took risk since he only thought about the cost, and that costed him a lot.

Alex works as a gfx designer. He doesn't make much but it's enough to survive. Seth was going to be a biology teacher but he didn't go there because he thought it would end up bad. He works in sales and is the 5th worst in the branch. His manager is disappointed with him but is more focused on other workers. I worry how much their lives will change. Maybe Seth will be able to trust more. Maybe he'll finally tell us that he's gay, even though we've known for years. 

-Next Day-

Alex's POV (7:53am):

My car keeps making weird noises since I turned it on, I have to leave in 7 minutes. Guess I'm walking for now. The bus leaves in 5 minutes, at least I can make it there. I walk to the bus stop, it's really hot today and I know the bus doesn't have air conditioning. At least it isn't cold. In the cold I could get sick. I get on the bus, there is a guy with the chicken cage. The chicken gets out and pecks at me. It pecked me while the bus reached my stop so I got off late and was late to work. 

Today my company was given way too many orders on top of the orders we had, I tried to take a break from the current ones then I realise they are already late. At least I can get an early start on the new ones since I don't have to worry about the old ones being late because they already are.

Seth's POV (12:43pm):

My car started consuming less gas and a lot of things seemed to fix themselves. I got a from my only friend about a job opportunity as a biologist. I love biology, but I could be betraying my company. If it fails and the company finds I've been trying to go other places I could end up jobless. However, this IS my dream job. I could end up rich and happy. This company is not doing well for me, so if I don't try I could end up fired for being bad at my job. So I call the company and I got an interview on a day that I'm off. This is the greatest. If I get hired then I can live happy. What if I fail though? This risk is insane. It could make or break my life. I need to pass. I need to get really lucky so I can do this!

This is the start of the luck. If you have questions about the name of the chapter, it's saying that after time took effect that's when the curse took effect. So time was another factor of the curse and how nervous Jonathan got once it was almost time. Not the best but it's what I came up with. Once I finish further chapters I might go back and edit this. So if you're reading this when it's almost finished, go back and re-read a few parts once I officially "finish" it. I hope you enjoy this story!
