[ C O N A N ]

The air was freezing, the sudden temperature drop showed that it was clearly winter.
Had Autumn gone by that fast? I guess it had.
While the wind blew furiously at the trees, Conan was wrapped up in a warm blanket casually texting Manny.
They had become friends and would meet up at places like the movies or the park so they could hang out.
It was weird, but so where they.
Manny was currently blowing up Conan's phone with a story that took many texts to share.
Conan sat there, waiting for his piping hot cocoa to cool down so he could put marshmallows in it without having them melt instantly.

Time passed and Manny finished his story about the whole gay-day anniversary and all that jazz, Conan saying it was interesting and overexaggerated while finally putting the marshmallows into his now warm cocoa.
(gay1- manny,, gay2- Conan)

gay1: so uh, what are you doing this weekend Conan?
gay2: nothing much, just looking for a job.
gay1: I think you'd be good at retail, honestly

Blegh, retail. The one job everyone starts off with. Well, first off, Manny wasn't wrong. He would be the perfect cashier, if that's what Manny was pointing at, then yes. He'd go with retail, though it was definitely not what he wanted to do.
Conan had an interest in music and had always wanted to be a music producer or someone who helped behind the scenes.
He didn't care much about that, he just wanted to be included in the big music career.

gay2: yeah, im gonna look around online to see if any stores need a cashier or something
gay2: be back in a bit!!
gay2 has gone offline.

And with that, Conan went off to find a job. He got up, blanket still wrapped around his body, and waddled to his room to get his computer.
Snatching it up along with the charger and went back out into the living room. He plugged everything in, letting out a sigh as he sat down and settled the computer on his lap and turned it on.
The bright screen startled him, forcing him to turn it down.

"I forget to turn that down.." He mumbled to himself, logging in.
His password was great. Not just great, it was amazing. E x t r a o r d i n a r y, even.
It was: ibetyoucantguessthishahloser
Best password ever? Hell yeah, man!!

Anyways, he opened up a web browser and searched up, 'jobs near me' and waited for it to load some jobs.
A few popped up, being the retail jobs he wanted.
There was one at GenBox, a store, looking for cashiers and stockers. It was 10 minutes away on a bike, so he would be able to get there easily. He looked at the time they wanted him to be there to the time he would get off.
6 am to 10 pm...
Next, please!

After a few hours of searching, he found a job at a local flower stand. It was a long shift, but it was long because the old lady running it was in a wheelchair and couldn't exactly work there.
Conan immediately applied, filling out everything.
"Wh-"
His phone exhaled a loud ding, followed by the same loud ding over and over again.

Conan picked up his phone, seeing the words from the one and only Manny.

gay1: Conan?

gay1: Conan please!!
gay1: please Conan answer me!
gay1: im sorry i have to go i cant im sorry
gay1 had gone offline...

Conan panicked, tossing the computer off of him as he started to spam Manny.

gay2: manny!
gay2: oh fuck are you okay? im sorry!!!
gay2: manny?

....
gay2: MANNY!! please answer me!
gay2: im sorry i was looking for a job!!
gay2: manny? please!
gay2: if this is a joke it isn't funny!!

A few minutes passed.
No reply.
Conan started to cry, worried as fuck.

gay2: manny please answer me im so sorry please!

Conan waited, counting the minutes that flew past as he silently sobbed.
He waited for a text from him, saying he was okay.
He waited for a ring of his doorbell, opening it to see Manny.
He waited for a sign that Manny was okay.

Nothing came.

A sickening silence at filled the empty room, Conan's heartbreaking sobs silencing themselves.
Still, nothing came.

No text.
No doorbell ring.
No sign.
Nothing.
