Odeum

A dimly lit house full of confidence
Grows while everyone jumps with glee
The lights pop on with brilliance
The violins play while we count to three
We loom

We strut, forming into organized messes
We wail our feelings into the crowd
As voices harmonize with the elegant hums of the bases
A slip-up... a mess up... one we never vowed
We presume

The family notices and keeps playing the game
I disregard it and keep dancing on pins of regret
Yet my lips keep slurring on words I swore I tamed
The curtain closes my body stained with sweat
We resume

The drapes of life open as we skip
Carrie sings as we fall into the final slumber
We ascend then break and quickly unzip
The hum of our last muse forces the black night air to quiver
We bloom
