I feel different after what happened a few days ago. The story grandma told felt..................relatable. I wonder if she was trying to tell me something. Maybe my life will drastically change because of an acorn I find underneath the snow. Or maybe I'm just overthinking this. It's Saturday so I've got all day to overthink but thinking is overrated. I get up from my bed and stumble down to the kitchen. My mom and dad were standing looking over two small slips of paper.
"Mom, Dad." I greet them.
"This can't be right, there has to be some mistake." She mumbles
"Its not, honey. Don't say that you'll undo our luck." Dad says to mom
"Anyone want to tell me what's going on?"
"We've just hit the lottery!" Mom jumps up and down with excitement."We won one billion dollars." Dad joins her with his embrace.
"Are you serious?! That's great." I smile and join them with their group hug. Grandma walks in.
"What's going on in here?"
"We won the lottery, Grandma!"
"Oh, my! It was my acorn!"
"What did you just say grandma?"
"My lucky acorn." She smiles pulling a small acorn from her pocket.
"What's th--"
"Hey, mom!" My mother cuts me off, talking to grandma. "These numbers are great!" She smiled. I was happy but curious. What acorn was grandma talking about? Why did she call it lucky? Again, I'm overthinking. "Well what are we going to do?"
"Your dad and I are going to go get the money in a few minutes! If you would like to come."
"Yeah sure. I'm gonna get dressed okay?"
"Please hurry, Jake." I sprint to my room to put on a sweatshirt and some pants. I throw on my slides and run back downstairs.
"I'm ready when you are." I flash them my pearly whites.
"Well lets go." We all walk out to the car. Driving down to the bank to cash the check we'd just won. This is amazing, but I don't remember finding any acorns. I still have to figure out what gramma was talking about. What 'lucky' acorn though? Is the story of the squirrel and the acorn some kind of metaphor for her life? Or a situation that happened in her life? Oof, over thinking it again. But what's a good lottery story without some over analyzing? Mom had put half of the billion into hers, dad's, mine, Anna's and grandma's personal bank accounts. So we each have one-hundred million dollars in our bank account. Which means, we are practically set for life. I am going to ask grandma about what she was talking about when we get home. I'm not supposed to be diving deeper into this, but this is what I live for. I'll figure it out its fine.
