Alice

I am Alice

A girl of secrets and lies.

I have been cheated,

I am broken inside.

I have a shattered soul,

And silently screaming eyes.

No one cares enough to know

Who I really am inside.

I have been abandoned

By everyone in times of need,

I have learnt to never trust

Their honeyed, wicked words.

I fell down the rabbit hole

Of sweet nothings and half-truths,

Believed there was something,

Past the Looking Glass.

Instead there was nothing

But sorrow and deceit,

A place here everything never really

Was as it seemed.

And so you left me,

A broken doll on the floor,

Hand-in-hand with the Red Queen,

Gone with her out the door.

In the story,

Alice triumphs over the Queen of Cards,

But in my fairytale,

There is none left but me.

Abandoned in the dust,

By all, including the Cheshire Cat,

Who swore not to turn its back,

On the one it said it loved.

Now there is nothing,

No white rabbit, cat or queen,

My life is eerily empty,

And numb, with fractured dreams.

My name is Alice,

I am all alone,

Waiting for my Prince Charming

In my twisted Wonderland.
