The bus ride home was the best I have ever had for long. I kept reminiscing every event that happened in school, the trash talk, Melvin defending me, every class equals talking to me, so amazing!.
I was so lost in thought that I didn't notice when the driver called our bus stop;
Ówa!(stop here), Ruby screaming brought me back to reality.
"Young woman small small abeg", a passenger pleaded as he stroked his chest out of shock.
"No vex abeg(am sorry for yelling that loud)", Ruby apologized, "see what you caused Chidozie(looking at me in despair), keep daydreaming!" She said upset.
"Come little sis, how is that your problem? or were you also day lost in your world too?", I said laughing in between as I wiggled my browns at her.
"Yes I was and how is that your problem?", she sassed and snapped her fingers at me.
"Geez!, lil sis, grab a chill pill ok", pleaded.
"Coming from a daydreamer like you, i won't take it". Classic Ruby, she always want to have the last words.
"Lets move cat and dog" Melvin inputted laughing.
Oh! I forgot he was here!.The walk to my house wasn't that far, crossing the Ojuelegba brigde became so much like esctasy, the art works on the bridge and the blaring music from a boutique near by added to my joy, except for the movement of buses and the constant yelling of conductors;
"Oshodi ooooo, madam sitdon well na!.
"Yaba!,Yaba!..., If you no get change commot oooh..
"Wólé mushin bus stop." All this was because today turned out pretty good.
I found myself rocking to KOFFE lastest single TOAST as it boom from a nearby music shop. I kept rocking to the beat with a careful cool step."You dance?", Ruby questioned not believing.
"Dancing machine is back!, Melvin screamed, cool move".
Bro I missed you dancing. "come on do that again?," Ruby said as Melvin nodded in support.
"Uh hoo!, Look its Burna boy,"
"Where" they asked losing focus as I bolted away.
"Wait Francis," They yelled chasing after me, "I will get you for that," Ruby yelled***
"Home sweet home!, Too bad Mr Kennedy wasn't around", Ruby said smiling sheepishly, She knew I can't wait to tell him about today.Thank God the dance talk is now forgotten, Melvin and Ruby were just major vectors as they dug to the dimensions and diagonals of why I stopped dancing.
"You're not taking your chances"
"I did it for them, ahhhh!"
I could hear mum argue with someone in our flat, Ruby gave me a sign saying something was wrong but what caught my attention was Ruby and Melvin's hand intertwined together.
Huh!, Are they a thing now? I quickly shook the thoughts off.I placed my ears at the door trying to get a hint on whose voice that was, but unbeknownst to me Ruby pulls the doorknob as I fell in splattered.
I hear voices calling out to me but my head seem to be heavy due to the impact of my fall. I tried straining my eyes but the images seems blur, a familiar voice caught my attention. I haven't heard that voice for Months now, i tried keeping my eyes open but I seldomly drifted to sleep.
I woke up in my room as I felt a smooth movement on my head, this stirred me up as mum quickly gave me a ST.LOUISA smile. She asked if I were fine,
Trust me, I gave off the best baby-like grin I could.I noticed an apologetic look from Ruby, you little Rattus Rattus! You can't deceive me with that! , I pretended stretching so I could catch her but her quick reflex aided her to escape as I felt a slight pain from my head again.
Ah! Ouch!
"Easy there tiger", you have a mild concussion mum said as she stroked my hair again, and I felt the smooth sensation once more.
