I choke up not knowing what to say. I pray that John comes back from this "house tour" but the house is huge so I know that won't be happening any time soon.

"Um excuse me?" My voice comes out worried and he puts his daughter down on the floor, coming closer to me.

"I know you heard me, Lauren. So how about it? I can talk to John I'm sure he wouldn't mind since he only bought you ab a f-"

"No." Thank god. John comes up from behind me and pulls me aside, going in front of Ted's face. Ted begins laughing and puts his hand on Johns shoulder.

"I was teasing. She's yours."

The fact that he talks about me as if I'm not here and as if I'm an object. I can't stand this bastard. Also he wasn't teasing. I can tell.

I look at John and fake laugh, he does the same but I know he realizes how angry I am.

"Dinners going to be in a little." Teds wife announces giving us a grin.

"I'll be right back." Ted announces leaving the room with his wife. He mumbles something about talking to her.

Me and John are now alone in the kitchen, and he sighs putting his hands over his face

"He's a piece of work isn't he?" John chuckles at my annoyed facial expression

"A piece of work or a piece of shit." I honestly reply

"The second one of course."

"Did you hear what he said?"

"Yes. That was shitty of him, but we need to stick with the plan Lauren." I nod knowing that this all must go on so we have to deal with him through dinner.

"Fine. Lets get it over with."

The dinner was less awkward and annoying than I expected it to be. John got more information about the company from dinner while I had a conversation with Teds wife, whom actually is kind of nice somehow. I don't know what she sees in him. Probably money.

We chit chat over random make up products but I snoop on Ted and Johns convo.

"This company is a top secret. I mean I don't even think the government can stop it since the parents know." I drop the expensive China made tea glass on the floor.

The parents know. What does he mean? What parents? Everyone who's been taken? What?!

I gasp when the glass hits the floor and so does his wife.

"I got it." We both say time getting up

"I-i-im so sorry. I didn't mean to do that my ha-"

"It's okay! Valeria!" She calls their maid to clean up the mess but I stop her protesting her to not clean it up.

"Please let me. This is my fault." I take the dust pan from Valeria. John and Ted walk in the dining room, their eyes go directly to the glass on the floor.

"What happened?"

"My hand slipped. I'm a klutz what can I say?" I nervously chuckle. Valeria stops me from cleaning it and tells me it's okay. I sigh taking a seat on the couch and John sits by me.

"Are you okay?" He whispers

"Lets go. Please." He nods and takes my hand

"It was a pleasure finally getting to know you, Ted. You as well Kate." They both grin and Kate hugs both of us goodbye. I end up getting her number to reminisce on more conversations about cake and soap opera's we watch.

I feel like a 40 year old woman who works part time at a fancy place and then comes home to bake brownies for her kids.

"Goodbye. I hope to see you both soon. At my release party in about a month or so, might reschedule." He gives me the dreadful hug I didn't want. I forcefully hug him back no matter how hard I really didn't want to. I pull back faster than he goes and go closer to John. John notices and pulls me closer to him like he's hugging me.

"Alright. It was nice seeing the kids their great, Ted really."

"Well of course they are. Their my kids." He winks patting him on the shoulder. Can we leave or what?!

When we finally get into the car I burst out the question I've been wanting the answer to.

"Do the parents know?" My eyes buldge and John freezes looking at me softly in the eyes. He closes his eyes and nods.

"W-w-What about mine?" I stutter not even wanting to know the answer. They can't. They wouldn't. Of course they wouldn't! They love and care about me more than anyone I've ever met! They are my parents.

"Yes. I'll explain when we g-"

"What?!" I cry out dreading that crazy answer. That can't be the truth. My head begins spinning and I try opening the door,

"What are you doing?! I'm driving dammit! Lauren I promise I'll explain!" He screams taking my hands away from the door. It's locked anyway and I honestly didn't even realize he was already driving away from their house.

The whole car ride is filled with me crying and ranting,

"I don't believe it, John! He's lying to them! My parents love me they wouldn't just sell me to you. They wouldn't do that to me, John just tell me the truth. Please take me back home." I cry to him even shaking his arms while he drives.

He barley looks at me and focuses on the road. His face is filled with sadness and guilt as he watches me shriek over this.

When he gets to the house he opens the door and I don't move out. He opens the car door on my side and scoops me up.

"Let me down." He puts me down when we get into the house and he takes my hand leading me into the dining room.

When we sit down he pulls out papers by the drawer.
On the paper is my parents signature.

Their authorization for John to have me for as long as he wants. I gasp not even knowing what to say.

"How long?" I can feel my voice losing and my mind pacing

"They've know for a few weeks. They actually agreed that I'd do it rather than anyone else."

"Why?"

"Because they want money and a good person for you." My heart aches at the thought of my parents actually doing this. Reaching out to this company and letting them take me.

"They know I'd be able to pay for anything you wanted. Give you anything. They know I wouldn't hurt you. I met them. Some parents don't even care to meet some of these men."

"Is that supposed to make me feel better? That they'd sell me just because you have money."

"No. I am just saying. They care about you and now since you know you can call them."

"Call them?" I sarcastically laugh out loud dramatically, even slapping my knee. Call them? Oh please. I want to throw a chair at them instead. Now it's more anger than it is sadness.

"J-John," I try to keep myself from crying again

"I have a life. A job and a college waiting for me. I need that. I worked so hard for it." He takes my hand into his and looks at me in the eye. He makes good eye contact,

"That's why we are going to destroy every shit piece of this company. This just gave me more encouragement."
