Taehyung's POV:There I was, sitting in one of my favorite places to go to, a plate full of nachos in front of me as I let the smell of the freshly cooked mince fill my nostrils.
I sat comfortably across from the guy I had known for years, my best friend, Jung Hoseok. The two of us sat scoffing down food as we usually did every Sunday evening, ordering the same things we always ordered.
I scooped up a mouthful of mince with my corn chip ready to place it in my mouth as Hobi suddenly spoke..
"Tae, I have another idea. " he exclaims, chicken wings being chewed in the process.
"Hyung, just eat your food." I reply motioning for him to just eat instead of speaking.
"Ya Tae, hear me out okay. Look I know my ideas and plans aren't always the best-"
"They're never the best." I cut him off, correcting him with a smug smile.
"..... yeaaahhh but listen I don't want my best friend moping around all sad and mad for another month okay? you need to forget her-..."
"I have forgotten her Hyung!" I suddenly spit out, my voice low and stern. "It's just hard... you know?"
"I know it's hard..... but I don't like seeing you unhappy. It took me everything just to bring you here to the Mill tonight, our favorite spot! You've been skipping out on me these past few weeks and I've been eating chicken wings alone." I look up to see Hobi playing with his food.
"I know hyung, I'm sorry." I reply, looking down at my half eaten nachos. He was right... this was the first time I had been out in a while..
"Taehyung, you don't need to apologize, okay?" I can't help but feel a little guilty..
"But you do need to be happy!" his bright smile suddenly warming my mood. "Which is why I came up with this new plan!"
I sigh in defeat, "go on."
"Okay.. that new student, Park Jimin!... do you know him?" he asks glancing up at me.
"I know of him?" I answer completely clueless of where he's going with this. "He's in my English class though, why?" I quickly add on before showering more salt on my food.
"Okay that's good then! You can talk to him!" he replies with both hands out in front of him.
I stare at him dumbfounded. "......Uhhhh Hyung, I'm not following?"
He flops his shoulders down. "Yano talking? The thing humans do when they want to communicate?" he states waving his hands as I internally roll my eyes.
"No Hyung, I got that but... why him?" I question still appalled at what goes on inside my best friend's head.
"Well for starters, he's a new kid. Which means he doesn't know about the drama that happened between you and uh.." he hesitates before continuing. "... Miran."
With my heart tensing at the sound of her name, I shrug it off. "...Okay but I still don't fully understand?"
Hoseok sets down his chicken wings and his hand motions start up again. "What I'm saying is, you should befriend him. I think making new friends will help get your mind off things." he explains.
"But I already have friends. You especially." I imply emphasizing on the 'you.'
"Yes I'm aware of that dummy, but in case you forgot, I am a year older than you Tae. Soon I won't be at school to hang out with you and next year is your last." his words catching my attention.
"Oh... right..." I look back down at my food and play around with the melted cheese on my plate. "But I still don't understand how befriending a stranger is going to help my situation?" I retort before picking up some cheese and dropping it in my mouth.
"Making friends is fun!" he happily implies. "A good way to keep your mind off the bad things." I was sure who he was implying as 'bad things.'
You sit once again in a complete daze. "I don't know Hyung-...."
"Please? Please just give it a try?" he asks, kindness sensed in his voice. "I just want you to be happy." he confesses, shrugging his shoulders in the process.
I sit in silence, taken aback by how much my best friend cares for me. I zone out going through Hobi's "brilliant" plan in my head, contemplating on whether it's a good idea or not. Sighhhhh
".......... fine." I respond again in defeat as I can never really say no to Hobi Hyung.
"YAY!" he shouts happily as he stuffs his face with more chicken.
"But..." I cut off his happy vibe.
"But what?" he whines as he sets his chicken back down.
"How am I supposed to do this? Just walk straight up to him tomorrow in English and ask him to be friends with a complete stranger?" I ask, a hint of sarcasm detected in my voice.
"No of course not." he answers, as he fans his left hand. "You can talk to him right now instead!" he was now beaming.
"What? How?" I question my best friend, getting more and more surprised by his logic.
"Here." He hands me over a note of paper with a phone number written on it. "It's his number."
"Hyung, how on earth do you have his number?" you question AGAIN.
"He's in my dance class and we've spoken over the course of this week he's been here."
"Annnnnnd when were you planning on telling me this?" I look up at him with my head tilted.
"What do you mean, I'm telling you right now!" he retorts back. Typical Hobi
"Okay well, what am I supposed to say? What if he asks questions?!" I can feel the anxiety creeping up on me.
"Just be you Taehyung." his hands now placed on my shoulders. "I'm sure he'll like you. I know I do!" he beams out with his thumbs up making me giggle.
"Okay Hyung I get what you mean but I don't know if this is a good idea." you confess.
"Taehyung, just do it or I will!-"
You quickly cut him off knowing damn well, he'd do it for you. "OKAY OKAY!"
"I'll do it okay but once I get home." I say in defeat as my best friend happily nods. He has yet again sucked me into another one of his crazy plans.
Little did I know his crazy plan was going to have a bigger impact on my life than I thought...
