Chapter 2

The Basement

Oliver quickly got to the basement, went down the stairs, and looked around for his mother, soon finding her. He walked up to her, wondering what she was doing. She turned around just as he came up to her. She saw him and jumped, at the same time yelling slightly.

"Oliver!" she yelled, when she realized it was her son.

"Don't scare me like that" she spoke more softly, but still with an firmness.

"What are you doing down here, mom?" Oliver asked, looking around. He saw pipes and a few shelves with paint cans, but not much else. Then he looked behind his mom, and he did see something. It was the shadow again, but it quickly disappeared as soon as his mother looked its way. "Oliver sweety, what are you looking at?" She asked as she looked him in the eyes. It took Oliver a little bit to snap out of the daze he was in. "I thought I saw something," he whispered under his breath, "I guess I was just seeing things."

Oliver looked at his mom and smiled to make sure she didn't worry. "How about we go get something to eat, and maybe go around the town?" She asked as she looked up at her slightly taller Son. Oliver nodded and waited till his mom walked up the stairs before him. Oliver did that because he had no idea what he saw and he didn't want to put his mom in danger. It didn't take Oliver long to get up the stairs, where he found his mom in the kitchen. She was putting away some of the dishes and she made a small pile of empty boxes. This made Oliver smile, he was so glad that his mom liked the move and she had a good time in the kitchen.

It didn't take long for Oliver's mom to be finished in the kitchen. Ten minutes passed and Oliver walked to the door. "Hey mom, I think that we should get going. Don't you want to go look around?" Oliver asked as he grabbed his coat along with his mom's. When his mom walked to him he gently put it on her before he walked out of the door.

Authors note: Hey guys! Here is the update for the day! Also, I will not be uploading over the weekends. And for the next couple weeks the chapters will be slow. I have some very important tests coming up.
