Picture of Blake
Blakes POV
"Please tell me this is the last box we have." Elizabeth sighs. I turn just in time to see her spread out on the living room floor staring up at the ceiling.
"Don't be so dramatic, but yes it is." I laugh as I watch her shoot up smiling. She always has been a drama queen, but I love her even though I want to strangle her half the time.
"No I'm not." She frowns. "I just hate anything to do with physical activity except shopping I can do shopping."
"Clearly, the amount of boxes you have of just your clothes says it all." I tease.
Elizabeth has been my best friend for as long as I can remember we basically grew up together, it seemed only right to pack up and go to the same college together. It's not like I had much holding me back from going away anymore. Except my dad, but these days he's too busy drinking every hour of the day to notice that I even left for college. I can't blame him honestly my mom was his life and his everything, when she dead it crushed him in so many ways. I tried to be there for him, but he would only push me away. Sighing, I put away the last of the movies we've hoarded together over the years.
"Hey we should go to that party tonight." Insisted Beth. I look up and see her already giving me her puppy dog eyes.
"No Beth, we just got here plus we don't even know whose party it is or who will be there."
"Oh come one! How else are we going to meet people. Besides we're in college, we're suppose to go to parties." Beth pleads as I take a seat right next to her on the floor. She rests her head on my shoulder while her fingers play with the fuzzy's on the carpet. "We're going to be here for the next four years. We need to participate in things and go out, and meet new people. I know things have been hard for you lately which is why I think you should go, so you can chill and have some fun for a night before school starts."
I look at her just in time to catch her staring at me with worried eyes she knows I hate when she looks at me that way, and she quickly replaces it with a soft smile but it's too late I saw it. "Fine, only because you want to go and I don't want to hold you back." I smile.
"Yay! Now lets get ready we have to make a good first impression!" She says excitedly as she drags me up by my hands. This should be fun I think.
I start to unpack some boxes in my room as Beth takes a shower. Opening the box labeled 'Blake's Wall' I start putting the bulletin board on my wall above the desk I have along with my twinkly lights. Thank god Beth's brother, Sam, came to move all the big things in for us this morning. I open the white envelope from the box that holds all the pictures that go on my wall. The first one to come out is a picture of the vacation my family took before my senior year of high school. I stare at my mom with the sun shining behind us as she holds me in a hug with my dad kneeling in front of us. Those were happier times when we were a family, when my mom wasn't dead, and my dad wasn't drinking so much all the time. Beth was right I need this tonight I need to have fun I just hope I don't chicken out.
"Your turn." Beth says behind me making me jump.
I turn around holding my chest and see her standing at the doorway smirking. "There better be hot water left." I say as I walk toward her. When I get passed her I yank the towel that's shielding her from the cold and run to the bathroom.
"Hey!" I hear her yell just as I close the door while laughing at the shocked face she made.
I quickly get into the shower and wash my dirty blond hair and my body. Once I finish everything I step out of the shower and use the towel I stole from Beth to dry myself off. I grab another towel from the rack besides the shower and wrap it around my hair. Thank god we unpacked the bathroom first. I walk to my room and close the door behind me. I grab my phone to see that its already 7:54 p.m. so we'll be out of here around 10 knowing Beth. I open Spotify and play 'The Hamptons' by Transviolet. I grab a lotion from the box labeled 'Blake's Body & Face' which is more difficult to find than it should be what can I say I'm a guilty face mask buyer. I hang the towel from around my body on the back of my door before I start to lotion my body. I walk into my small walk in closet and grab a some cute but comfy panties and a cute lacy bralette because you never know what can happen tonight as Beth says. I look at the clothes I've managed to unpack already and settle on a pair of high waisted shorts with a white tank top and add a oversized flannel since it gets a little chilly at night in Florida around this time. I put on some socks and black converse to finish my outfit. I walk to the vanity right across from my bed and sit on the chair in front of it. I let my hair out of the towel and brush it out. I decide to just leave it in its natural waves so I put some anti frizz spray on. I apply my favorite mascara then move on to my brows with my brow wiz and I finish off with some chapstick. I glance at my reflection in the mirror and take a deep breath. I hang the towel that held my hair behind my door as I walk out and head to Beth's room which is literally four steps from my room.
I knock once before opening the door. "Are you done?" I question just in time to see her walk out of her own walk in closet, that's much bigger than my own, wearing a t-shirt dress and booties.
"Yeah. As always we are completely different in 'making a good first impression'." She says looking at my outfit.
"What's wrong with this? Its just a party." I sigh as I sit on her bed. "Besides you know fashion isn't my strong point."
"Nothing you honestly make anything look good, why can't I have your genes?" She pouts. I watch her grab her purse and throw in her wallet, lipstick, and phone before checking it quickly. "Lets go its already past 9:30." In other words its already a little past 10.
I laugh and get up from the bed. "Okay." I stop at my room to grab my phone that already has my ID and debit card in the case. I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one who doesn't own a wallet case but puts their cards in between their phone and case.
I lock the door behind me since Beth is already in the car but she just so happens to always forget to lock it anyway. I get in the car and connect the aux cord to my phone. Beth and I have the same taste in music so its never a fight on who gets the aux. I start our journey off with The Neighbourhood.
"Do you even know where it is?" I question while looking at her as she drives out of our apartment's parking lot.
"Yes, you remember that snobby cousin I have that's literally never invited to family functions anymore because all she ever does is brag about how rich her daddy is?"
"How could I forget? She only just always harassed us this whole summer for going to the same college as her saying and I quote 'I always knew you guys wanted to be me you live pathetic lives anyway'." I say in my best high pitched voice to mimic hers.
"Well that bitch surprisingly told me about the party and gave me all the info."
I laugh as I look out the window at the passing trees. When I was little my mom use to say that the trees and buildings were flying past us to change our view and our car wasn't really moving. My mom was always so imaginative. It isn't long before we can hear the loud music in the distance. We pull around the corner to see cars filling both sides of the street leading to a big frat house. Its a miracle we even get a parking across the frat house next door to the party.
"Apparently this whole block is filled with frats and houses of some college students and no one bothers to call the cops since its a college filled town basically." Beth says with an amused face as she turns off the car. She looks at me closely before smiling. "Ready?"
"Ready as I'll ever be." I smile before turning towards the big house with people in the front yard and a bunch more inside. This might be a bad idea.
