His hand was around my throat, crushing my windpipe as his grasp got stronger. "Axel." I tried, choking on the blood he made me bleed. I gurgled, tears filling my eyes as I realized my fate, it was over, I was dying. My vision blurred and slowly darkness fell over and my body went cold.
I woke up to the soft smack of a pillow on my face. "God, can you be any louder?" Charlie groaned, looking at me with one of her beautiful eyes.
"S-sorry." I sat up, moving the warm covers aside, reluctantly leaving my bed. I walk past the mirror hanging on the wall and see my tear stained cheeks. I walk speedily to the bathroom, shutting and locking the door. I started my shower and got inside, letting the hot water hit my back in a steady stream. Axel wasn't usually in my dreams, not for the past 3 years and I hoped these nightmares wouldn't come back to haunt me. I was so lost in my thought, I didn't even hear the loud knocking on my door.
I shut the water off, wondering who it was before I heard her. "Hey, Azure! Can you hurry the fuck up?" Charlie yelled through the door, a small smile broke out onto my face and I got out, grabbing a towel and opening the door. "Shower's all yours." I tip her off, going to my dresser to grab clothes for the day. My hair was still dripping water from the small black ringlets of my hair as I grabbed my outfit. I was going to go to the library today, search for books.
I hadn't read since middle school, Dork Diaries was a top one, it made me laugh. I used to be obsessed with reading then high school hit, it was a whole new rodeo. I couldn't juggle my hidden emotions, school work, and reading so I cut one out.
Being lost in my thoughts, where else would I be, I bumped right into someone. "Sorry." I smelt fresh pine, the same scent Axel always smelled of. I looked up to his dark, green, and intense eyes that search mine, I could see the slight pain for a second before its gone.
"Bumping your head and now me?" He chuckled, the same chuckle I fell in love with, I shake my head and push him out of my mind.
"I've got somewhere to be." I pushed past him, striding confidently away. As soon as he's out of sight, I let out the breath I had been holding unknowingly. I held my chest, feeling like there were a hundred pounds of brick on it. I took a deep breath and walked into the library, holding my head high and walking straight to the fiction section.
It feels like 30 minutes but I check the time, realizing I've been there for three hours. I hastily checked out a couple of books and went to the dorm room, seeing Charlie getting ready. "Going to a party?" I set my stuff down, watching her apply a bold shade of red lipstick.
"Maybe." She smirked in the mirror, mischief in her eyes. "You should come."
My heart skipped a beat, the last "party "and only "party" I ever went to were Axel's and I didn't like the idea of a bunch of drunk frat guys grinding against drunk girls who basically wore nothing. "I-I don't know about that." I swallowed down, my throat feeling closed off.
"Aww come on, it won't even be that big of a party and I'll watch out for you." She offered, smiling back at me and revealing straight white teeth.
I thought about it and finally sighed. "I guess." The rest of the night was a blur.
I woke up with an ear-splitting headache, groaning as light poured into the room and right into my eyes. I looked around the room, seeing it wasn't mine.
"It will just be a good game of truth or dare." I giggled, dragging a slight drunk Charlie over to the circle of players. The game went by slow until the bottle landed on Charlie.
"I dare you to make-out with that one." His finger pointed at me, well next to me but close enough.
Charlie moved towards me and my eyes moved to look at her dark red lips before they were pressed against mine. I felt her tongue lick at my bottom lip before pushing inside of my mouth, her tongue exploring the unknown territory. The kiss ended before I wanted it to and I leaned in, my drunk mind frazzled causing me to want more. The guys cheered and Charlie smirked at me, winking subtly before scooting back to her spot.
That must be my mind playing tricks, I thought. I looked down next to me, seeing Charlie curled up next to me and I quickly lifted the covers, making sure both our clothes were on. Thankfully, they were. I sat up before getting out of the bed, carefully and unobtrusively. I walked towards the mirror and there it was, the stain of that stupid, damn red lipstick.
