Thrill of Adventure

Anna bounces around Ultima as they walked through the destroyed corridors of Sector E. "Hahaha, that was so much fun! I was like hitting my arrows at their heads every. single. time. And you! You were so... cool! You don't let them get the upper hand and slash them before they even react. And then... " Anna continues to boast about their recent encounter with some monsters.

Ultima just kept his mouth and let her do the talking. He'll only talk when she asks. While walking Ultima asks Anna, "Anna, why did you want to become a Protector? Is it because of your parents?" Anna scratches her cheek and chuckles. "Well, yeah. My mom and dad are actually Protectors and I kinda got inspired to become one of them but another reason why is because I want to have an adventure. An adventure is so awesome to have. To be out there, exploring new lands, defeating monsters, and just have fun." Ultima thinks about what she said before asking "Then what about the dangers of it? Did your parents say something about that to you?"

When he heard only his footsteps, he turns and sees her, head down and eyes red. He decided to stop and keep walking when he hears a "No." He glances at Anna who gestures him to sit at the wall. He obliges and sits. She then sits while hugging her knees. "When my dad died during a mission with mom, that made her so traumatized that she banned me from learning anything about being a Protector. She even burned the pictures of the countless monster they slain. However, she didn't touched dad's nor her weapon. They just hanged there at the wall. She didn't quit being a Protector but only responds to escorting and rescue missions that has no monsters around."

She stops to take breather before continuing. "I ask her why is she doing this. Why would she give up on being a proud Protector? She then yells at me telling that I would only find myself dead being one. Then we
continue to argue until I said that if dad was still alive, he would disagree with her. Then she slapped me." Anna then sobs while Ultima takes a minute to think about what she had experienced.

Hmm, if her mom would have a reason to slap her that would be-

Suddenly, the ground shakes violently and more pillars appears from all sides. Ultima looks at Anna who is still crying. Minotaurs then took form and charges the two which Ultima grabs her and barely avoids the attacks. He then takes out his revolver and shoots them at the head. Some immediately fall while others blocked the bullets with their horns. He then switches to his sword and says to Anna, "I'll give you an opening so make sure every shot counts. If you want to stay alive, aim for the head.", before charging to the minotaurs.

By the time he is a few feet away from them, he casted Advance and immediately casts Stop at the minotaurs. There, he did an upward slash and Anna quickly regained her focus and fires multiple arrows at the heads. It wasn't enough to kill them and one of them slammed into Ultima, knocking him back to a wall. Anna then notices that their right leg tends to lag behind the charge so she shot arrows at it and the minotaurs stumble so that they would not use their charge again. Ultima recovers from the crash and immediately goes to Anna's position.

"Ready to unleash hell on them?" asks Ultima with his revolver pointed at the monsters.

"Who said I wasn't?" Anna replies while her arrows and bow emit light.

They then unleash everything they have to the minotaurs. The sheer amount of lead and arrow is too much  for them to defend as the onslaught rages on. Eventually, the attacks stop and they turn into murk and disappear before they could do anything. Pillars then suddenly burst out of the ground at a rapid pace.

"Run for it!" shouts Ultima as he sprints away with Anna following him. More pillars burst out from left to right as they run. They eventually saw a light coming from the direction they are running.

"That must be another Protector! Come on!" shouts Anna. As they were nearing the light, a pillar suddenly burst out right under her and Ultima grabs her just in time. He then asks her if she is ok. When she says she's fine, she reaches for her bow only to find it gone. She searches for it until she looks behind the pillar that was under her awhile ago and find her bow. She tries to reach for it but pillars fill the hallway very rapidly. They back out as more pillars appears.

"No! Please Ultima, I need it!" pleads Anna. Ultima just stares at her for a few minutes before asking.

"Why do you need it?"

"Why!? Because I can't fight without-"

" That's bull crap. WHY do you need it?"

Anna just stares and never speaks a word before saying "It's my only memory of my dad and mom being together. It holds what I need most, my will to live and fight for my family."

Ultima closes his eyes and breathes. He then rushes back to the bow in mere seconds, just before it was crushed by a pillar. He then zips back but not before a pillar burst out in front of him. He then tries to navigate his way to Anna. He finally reaches her just before he was closed in. He then grabs her and runs towards the light.

When they finally reached it, they are met by Curie and Ramyah. He gives Anna her bow and the two sigh as they are now glad that they're with someone who knows how to deal with situations like this.

"So Ultima, you know that woman?" asks Anna as she admires Curie's body. Her slim legs, her curvy body, her big m-

"Yes, I know her. Now will you stop ogling her?" Ultima deadpans. Anna looks away with a blush at her cheeks.

Curie just giggles and introduces herself. Ultima explains she is also a divine figure just as him. Ramyah then explains the situation. Ultima thinks about it while Anna worries about her mother.

"Is my mother okay? Did she participated in mitigating the disaster? Is she injured? Did she-"

"Calm down, Anna. She is fine. I actually called her to help in the evacuation." Ramyah assures her. She then calms herself down while Ultima repeats the report.

"So you two assumed that this way is where we find the source of all this murk?" he asks, pointing at the hallway to the west. The two adults nod.

"From the tone of your voice earlier, you know this way connects to all five sectors, am I right?"

"You are very perceptive." Ramyah chuckles.

"I figured as much. Let's go, the sooner we finish this, the sooner we can address to other problems." Ultima says as he walks with all of three of them.

Without noticing all of them surging towards the direction they were heading.

I guess I should explain why I was gone for months. I actually got caught up with school work, with all the shitty partners in group projects.

But my real reason is because,

I almost lost my inspiration to write.

It almost vanished because I never found what drives me to write this, with Kemco's recent games.

But I found one that somehow made me comeback so I guess that pretty much explains it.

That, or I was just lazy.

All I could say is, I'm not giving up this story. Never. Not in my lifetime.
